I'm not a fan of his. Good at a late run into the box but other than that nothing. Greedy and slows us down a lot. Definitely not a winger, if he wants to be central he needs to be a lot lot braver.

Never got himself into the game at all last night, and when he did get on the ball, I can't remember him ever going past his man.

 

A young player whose form comes and goes. Expected, surely?

 

Here we need to be careful with our young players and not be to harsh on them , he is a great we player and has good vision and can shoot with a good first touch too , so sometimes it won't always work for him but give the kid a break .

 

Isn't a winger and should be played in the Commons role.

Will continue to under-perform so long as he's out of position.

 

Anytime he's been moved into the middle he's been shocking. What are you basing that being his natural role on? He came through the ranks as a central midfielder.

Scored a few goals at the start of the season and is living off of that. Struggles to beat a man, greedy, not the quickest and has too many poor touches.

I'm not his biggest fan and he was anonymous last night but get the kid out the firing line for a bit, especially as he's just back from injury..

 

His spell at County with him netting 16(ish? maybe 14? could be 12 actually) goals.

 

12 in 36 apps, no bad for a young kid in a league on par with ours, in a team much worse than ours.

 

He just isnt doing enough, he could/should have been subbed at HT in our last two games.

I thought he was good today. Played some great through balls down the channels and took his man on when he found himself out wide.

It was his ball to Scepovic that gave us the FK that led to the first goal.

 

He doesnt do that bad but he just doesnt do enough, he always just cuts back and passes it back to Brown/Johansen/Matthews all the time and loses the ball a lot trying to beat players. He isnt that comfortable on the wing I dont think.

When Commons played that position 2/3 years ago he was a lot better at it than McGregor, Commons could punt the ball to the other wing with ease to switch the play or he could squeeze through a couple of players, McGregor barely does anything like that, he only occasionally picks the ball up more central and plays a 1-2.

He needs to impose himself more on matches or shouldnt be playing.

Id rather have played Griffiths there the day, Griffiths has more pace, better dribbler, better crosser and is more unpredictable and looks to get forward more. The first sub the day really should have been Griffiths for McGregor imo

 

He's done well and looks a decent player but its still early days for him....I wouldnt like to predict if he will go on to become a top quality player that can hold down a first team place in the years ahead.

 

Think he doesnt really put any fear into opponents, as they know he doesn't have much pace and he doesn't really come off the wing much either. If I was a left-back I would be happy to play against him, he's not a Commons, Thompson or Nakamura type slower wide-man, his style of play is more like Johansen.
