And I agree,I'm not a gambler but if I was I'd bet that not one of these loan players will sign for us next season.
And in my opinion they are only stopping the development of players like Henderson and McMullan.:50:

So we shouldn't sign good players because all that would happen is they'd be good for a year and then we make a profit on them?

That logic would apply to any player.

I don't understand your thinking behind this?

A guy who we took a chance on, out for what 3 years, 31, Scottish and at a massive successful club with European football and our our number 1 thats seen him already back in the Scotland squad..

He's here to stay. He's got a point to prove plus he's back in the Scotland squad.

I'll be gobsmacked and disappointed if he's not here for the rest of his career.

Correct, and if he keeps up the form that he has shown so far,he will be gone as will VVD.

The sharp suited man loves making "a good piece of business".

I can't see it, unless the club want rid of him. Gordon'll be grateful to Celtic for giving him a second chance. I'll be surprised if he doesn't see out his career here. I really hope that's the case - not uncommon for goalkeepers to play into their late thirties!

Wasn't wee mcarthy a tim quoted as saying he would have walked to celtic park same with Johnny Russell i was seriously dismayed we didn't sign these 2 not signing Johnny Russell was baffling at the time still is tbh which makes me think Jackie Mac would be a good manager for us in future as he knows the Scottish game he has brought through a couple of half decent players at thistle

Excellent post by G Portillo on the subject of bypassing talent on our doorstep, it served Celtic very well in the past with players such as Brian Mc Clair, Dixie Deans, Harry Hood & Willie Wallace all joining from Scottish League clubs ( for those of you under 50 years old I apoligise as you probably have never saw these guys in action)

Some of our recent signings from abroad have been less that we would have hoped, Bangura, Boeringer & Balde immediately spring to mind. Jonny Russell, Mackay Steven and Armstrong from Dundee United I feel would have cost a lot less and had a far bigger impact.

I personally think fans would be more willing to give things time if Hendreson, Griffiths, Mcgregor and a few more young players were first choices in this new era and possibly a few young Scottish signings bunged in.

Not just recently but for many years so much short term dross has been bought from overseas when I'm sure we must have at least as good in this country that at least need an opportunity to start now and again, that's been the problem in the past as they simply have had no opportunities as the likes of Bangura and Miku have to be played to justify their signings

Johnny Russell, James McCarthy, Andrew Robertson, Ryan Gauld and Steven Fletcher are definitely players we missed the boat on. The others mentioned MacKay-Steven and May I'm not fussed about. If we're to sign a player(home based or from elsewhere) we need them to have enough quality to show it at the European level as well.

Fletcher,Russell,McCarthy, Gauld and Robertson have shown that they have the quality(in my opinion).

Souttar & Stuart Armstrong (United) John McGinn, Kenny McClean (St Mirren)Ryan Fraser, Clark Robertson(Aberdeen) and Chris Johnston(Killie) all look promising. Can they step up and produce a high level of performance on a consistent basis???

Armstrong, McGinn and McClean have been impressive but I wouldn't see them dislodging our midfield at present.

We would be much better off looking closer to home. Ok we have found some bargains looking further a field but also a lot of duds. We have players playing for us now that don't give a * about the club or understand the importance of the big games. I hate that we have players like Bition it makes my stomach turn, for he's he's bang average and another he's a disgusting human being. Berget average as well. The Scottish players on the most part even if the don't support Celtic understand they can't come here just pick up their wages and do * all for 90 mins I'm not sure some of our current team understand that. These young Scottish players should take a lesson from the likes of Goodwillie that going to England too young can often be a * career decision.

the problem is we are being priced out of a move for the scottish players i mean gould went for 3 million and sporting are easing him in with the reserve team if we pay 3 million he has to be a good first team player

Pretty sure this hasn't worked out any better in recent times than buying from anywhere else.

Well for a player with such hype and supposed potential is £3m such a high fee? Who in Scotland has been labelled mini messi in recent years? (An over exaggeration and most likely tongue in cheek)

Its a different situation because i dont believe Gauld would have went into our reserves, having had already been starting and performing in our league already. Most likely hed have started on out bench and been gradually introduced to the squad.

Keep in mind that we paid good money for Brown.. With the income we have generated in recent years from player sales i think the money was there, we just didnt want to take the risk.

The same might have been said for Fletcher and Mccarthy- priced out, didnt want to take the risk.. But they went on to bear good profit.

Goodwillie was a failure elsewhere hence why he's back in the SPL. Some work out, some don't. Always said we should have gotten Aluko though.

Celtic forums are natural homes for various ranges of views . Many of these views when examined carefully have a lot of merit . However I think it pushing credibility to post in praise of Goodewillie , after writing that Nir Briton is a disgusting individual.
