    Stevie May for the money he went for was definitely worth the chance.

    He would of scored for fun in the SPFL for us.

    Haha Mcguire your a real yin. Your good entertainment at the least. Just ignoring that pfa award then yeah? I said he had good technique. Are you too young to remember the good season he had at utd when he was linked with us, the zombies, cardiff and blackburn? or do you just chose not to? He has suffered as a result of wasting on the bench at Blackburn. His career lost all its momentum. Nobody said he is still good enough.

    The one and only player I knew at the time we were stupid to let go was McCarthy and that remains the case. Would have done anything to join us when leaving Hamilton and Strachan turned him down. He's now a top drawer Premiership centre mid and has been for a few years. Massive mistake.

    I personally wouldn't have signed Fletcher either despite him having a couple purple patches in the EPL. Regardless Hibs would not have sold us him anyway.

    Totally agree about McCarthy. I was gutted when we didn't sign him as it was clear he was going to go on to big things.

    Fletcher I'm not so sure on. I wanted Celtic to sign him when he was the least known of the group of high profile Hibs players at the time. I saw something in him that I thought would have done a job for us. He did go on to make a decent name for himself down South, but not to the extent I first imagined.

    Long-term wise, other than missing out on financial gain, I think McCarthy is the only one of those players we could've used a staple in the side. I'm not saying the other three are/were useless - no way. They just are more short-term fixes than anything I'd consider serious.

    can not believe we havent been in for the spl players in the past couple of years . Armstrong should be playing in our centre midfield, Ryan Gauld should have been signed as well as stevie may , all three would improve our strating 11 imo.

    Strachan by all accounts has been raving about gauld and even may to an extent where they might have impressed that much to get game time in the next week..

    Wanted gauld actually but not may..

    Scottish lads know the score with Celtic.

    I think we may have accidentally created a language barrier in our own first 11 at times.

    Probably a good 8 - 11 players in the SPL worthy of "a punt" certainly over half the crop we have/ loaned in.

    If we had signed players like McCarthy,Fletcher,MacArthur after a year or so they would have been gone,same as Gordan will most probably be gone next year,just the way it is.
