We have been/are blessed to have captains like these two guys, but who have in you're opinion been the most influential and most important captain for us?

I must go with Scott Brown. The attitude and grit he added was unmatched imo. His banter, aura and everything just spread through every squad he captained.

It is a great thing that this is debatable though.

I think we’ve been blessed with two brilliant players and captains, and both totally different in how they lead the team.

Has to be Brown at least currently, but McGregor has done a great job of replacing him and is probably the better player of the two.

    Both club legends.

I think they have similar leadership qualities but Cal is the better footballer, that’s what tips it slightly for me.

    Poll added.

I think its hard to choose personally. Both bring different things to the table.

I'd probably go Brown as he had to go through more to make his journey to being captain. He had a really rough run for a while latterly under Strachan and then Mowbray, I even remember early under Lennon many fans questioning him.

For him to go from being someone that a lot of fans didn't rate or understand why we paid the money, to a legend of the club, is pretty impressive.

Mcgregor has his own story coming through the youth academy etc. And has undoubtedly worked hard to get to where he is.

Calmac is definitely the better football player but Broony evoked fear in opponents always with a sense of humour and huns absolutely hated him so Broony for me.

Both had detractors before they were appointed captain, both have captained us during an immensely successful time for the club. Broony has admitted publicly that he was a bit naive when he first took on the role as captain and it's no secret that Rodgers helped Broony improve his professionalism off the pitch in order to extend his career. McGregor has had those higher standards implemented before he was captain so he has continued them since becoming captain himself, following Broony. That, plus McGregor being a better footballer meaning he can lead by example better on the pitch, is why I'd say McGregor is the better captain overall.

Most Important and Better Captain are both different questions and could provide two different answers. I make this point not to nitpick, but to highlight how close the question is, that the wording could make a difference.

I'd say, the most important/influential is Brown - captained us for the 9 in a row and invincible treble and then more. I think he drags some players through games and when motivation may lack from the touchline, Brown is there to make sure there is passion and motivation on the pitch.

Mcrgregor though may be the "better" one, in that he is the more technical player and having him playing is a much bigger deal than needing Brown to play. We miss McGregor a lot more as a footballer than we would Brown. I also think McGregor leads with more "professionalism" (for lack of a better term, not meant as a slight to Brown) and is a model pro in the role of Captain.

Gun to a head, which one would I pick to see us win a cup final - I think Brown edges it. But it's very, very, very * close.

That said, "shitebag" from CalMac against a hun was top notch!

You only have to listen to that interview the other day McGregor gave saying he looked up to Broony and tried to sponge as much of that leadership ability and experience from him to answer that question. McGregor is a better footballer but overall Brown was the dictionary definition of what a good leader is and should be. Dependable, fierce, professional, loyal, and always had his team-mates backs when opponents would try intimidate or bully them.

    What a great question
Brown gets the nod from me.
Both great leaders, both lead by example, no doubt CalMac is the better footballer.....but the fear factor, the intimidation element, the Shithousery from Brown - I genuinely miss it. I believe it is that ability to get a little bit more out of his team mates and diminish the oppositions effectiveness, that swings it for me.

Mentally, Brown had to overcome more, with the death of his sister for example. It's close, but will go with Broony, as he turned his career around, after Hartley and Robson were first picks before him.

This is a great answer. Cal is a absolute legend. Broony is a Absolute legend and a true icon. He will never ever be forgotten.

I think folk are misremembering Broony's overall professionalism in the earlier parts of his career.

It's always a difficult question, when one is still leading us to success on the park. When CalMac retires, he could be ahead for me.
