Dont think the thread is THAT bad.

It's about who has contributed to more, not who is a better player. In that respect it's pretty close and I would think Brown would edge it by the time he leaves.

IMO brown has improved hugely over the season. Looks like a far more tactically aware player than ever before. His performances in Europe this season as a pure 'ball-winning midfielder' has been fantastic.

This is more cut and dried than the Hooper/Sutton thread imo.

Lambert all day, class in a glass.

Brown has grown into the captains role at Celtic, I thought he was superb today and he has been superb throughout Lennon's tenure in my opinion but Lambert is Lambert, he was * immense.

This is a bit like the Hooper v Sutton debate recently. Lambert - world class. Brown - international class.

    Haha :50:

I love Broony to bits, think he's a cracking leader at the moment, and the team are far far better with him in it, he was terrific today. Participating in a team that got to the last 16 twice is a great achievement, but Mr Lambert played in and was part of the team that won the European Cup. He also captained us to the Uefa cup final. No contest I'm afraid.

Well, what are we talking about here ... who's the better player (as a few posts here are suggesting, but that's not what the poll asks), or who is the better servant for Celtic?

    Better player? Lambert, no question.

Better servant? Broony by a country mile.

Two great servants, but Lamberts the far superior player and I rate our captain highly

Different times but they make a difference on the pitch. The difference in a leader being there is think for yourself as a team. Time for the side to mature? :shamrock:

Id say Ledley was more similar to Lambert to be compared.

Brown and Lambert are a bit too different. Lambert was more of a sitting player, with good reading of the game and passing. Brown's game is more about shutting down, harassing and carrying the ball forward, although Brown's passing can let him down a lot he has a great touch and ball control and turns players better than anyone in our team, his dribbling and creativity is quite under-rated. Brown scores and creates quite a few more goals than Lambert.

Lambert was better than Brown though as if youd think now if Lambert was available at the age we signed him he'd probably cost about £10million and would be going to a team like Liverpool or Spurs. Where as Brown as he is now would probably only get a game for teams like Everton, Fulham, West Ham or West Brom.

I suppose it remains to be seen who is the better servant to Celtic, as Broony still plays for us. But I think Lambert was a better player, not that either of them score many goals, Brown scores slightly more often than Lambert did. But Lambert's reading of the game was far better, he wasn't as aggressive a midfielder because he didn't have to be, his positional awareness was immense. It speaks volumes that he kept that Argentinian guy (I forget his name now) out the Dortmund team the full time he was with Dortmund. I remember having wee neddy Barry Ferguson in his back pocket in a few Old Firm games. Lambert was one of my favourite players in fact. I'd have loved to have seen him in the same Celtic team as John Collins.

The Hooper and Sutton comparison thread was a shocker and this one is not much better. Think of two players from different eras who are similar in quality. How anyone could vote Scott Brown on this thread is beyond me

Brown has great energy and enthusiasm but he's not in the same class as Lambert.
