So can Broony, he does it well and fact. Pressures a bit more than them all but the fact is they had the 'Hunnish' dig and drive traits that you seem to think Celtic players shouldn't posses??

Love or hate a player we have to judge him on ability and how he performs in a Celtic jersey, nothing else. I've already said i'm not a big fan of Brown but i will admit i thought we were weaker without him in the side.

Not the point. That's your opinion and I've already had it out on why I disagree with you.

I was just pointing out that the fact you think Celtic players shouldn't have 'dig' or 'drive' because they are 'Hun traits' is ludicrous.

Not recognising the value of having a bit of a psyco in your team who puts the opposition off a long standing flaw in Celtic football culture and that has cost us a lot IMO. Celtic play in Scottish football and one thing you realise over the years is the best footballing team frequently dont win the title. Fight means a * of a lot in the SPL. If you dont have some hard as fck scrappers in your teem you will never win the SPL. Broony is totally fearless and plays with peoples minds. He is the sort of character who unnerves the opposition, scares them a bit. Rangers have taken so many titles off us over the years by having mentally strong, cynical fighters while we try and play pretty patterns and pretend we are a continental side.

Honestly Gunt mate I wouldn't bother, it's pretty obvious he has got a petty grudge against Brown. I tried with him last night and he ignores everything that doesn't suit his narrow minded point of view.

I would agree with that gunt. We need a good nutcase who isn't afraid to put themselves into a tackle. During the MON days it was Lenny, now it is brown.

I dont think its as clearcut as that. Lenny was very good at one thing-tracking and closing down and passing the ball sideways 6 yards. Broony is not a specialist at one thing like Lenny but Broony has far far more to his game than Lenny ever had.

In personality terms I think they are very similar albeit in his time at Celtic Broony has been much younger than Lenny was and therefore somewhat dafter at times. People forget Lenny tread close to the edge of being criticised by his own fans due to just how snarly and aggressive he was at times and his tendency to get a lot of cards. I think time has soft focussed this a bit. I remember a decent sized chunk of Celtic fans were frustrated by Lenny at times with his side passing etc, even extending to groaning in the crowd etc. I even remember a thread where there was some debate as to whether his conduct and demeanor made him a suitable captain representing the club. I think Lenny actually sees himself in Broony personality wise.

Ach listen. Broony might misplace a pass now and then, but he has made a few cracking through balls this year. He has a really good first touch actually.

Think he has a good mentality, and that goes a long way to making up for whatever deficiencies he has as a footballer.

Not the most intelligent Bhoy, but he will give 110% every time he crosses that white line, and he expects the same from his team-mates.

    THAT is captain material.

This is true to a certain extent but i actually think mental strength is just as important as physical, aggression is a good trait to have as long as it's controlled and channelled in the right manner. We have lost titles over the years by throwing them away last season being a prime example.

i dont think brown times his tackles particularly well tbh.for me his main strength is his ability to assist in attack with bursts into the box-he can score good goals just not often enough-see your point about lenny-but 4 seasons in every tim i knew was convinced, outwith talk celtic i've got one cousin who likes brown-no other celtic fan i talk to face to face rates him,and worse still-every hun i talk to doesnt mind him-think hes just a daft laddie and certainly dont see anything to fear-bad bad sign:38:

Broony intimidates people mentally. In reality he is a wee skinny guy who has done a bit of weights. It isnt all about physicality. Broony gets inside other players heads to a degree that is rare for a Celtic player. It is a bit psyco but I have seen it done to us so much over the years I am glad we have our own resident nutter. I actually think the level of fight having Kayal and Broony in the team at the same time was one of the main factors in overcoming Rangers tendency to beat us even when we are better than them. Broony also effectively gives us a 3rd CM but is mobile enough to also do the wide shift. I think that is very very handy because our CM tended to get outnumbered when we played 2 wingers and only had 2 CMs. I dont think we have many players who could play that current Broony role.
