I think the real question/scandal is 'Why do Rangers continually take money from the disabled and the retarded for season tickets?'

Is that true or is it *????

nothing like denial of geographical and ploitical reality. Of course we are a British club. Scots get the chance to vote ourselves out of the UK every 4 or so years and we dont. In fact the areas with the most tims like west-central scotland have a lower vote for independence parties than a lot of Scotland. I would like independence but until a majority want it we are British as well as Scottish. I consider myself a proud Scot but there are a number of British things I am proud of like the welfare state, shakespear, the 2 world wars etc.

I am a Scottish nationlist but everything anyone has doen in Scotland in the last 400 years has been as a British citizen and there wasnt even an independence movement to speak of until well into the 20th century - people we obviously happy to be British and Scottish. You cant just rubbsih the lives that our grandparent and before them lived happily as British citizens for generations.

most Scots manage to be happy to be British and Scottish without being royalists. The monarch has just been a bit of dusty cermony for 300 years+ and a large majority would vote to keep the institution whether we like it or not. Thats deomocracy and so is our continuing status as part of the UK. Again, I would like independence but its a minority view.

Celtic was set up by an Irish man, for the Irish people... in Glasgow.

    An Irish club from Scotland.

Its also a generational thing. If you asked most Scots people two generations ago, probalby a majority would rate the British element as important, especially the generations that fought in the world wars. The younger the poll of Scots, the lower the importance of the British identity is. Thats been the case for 20 odd years. I think the SNP are benifiting from that too.

Its also fair to say though that to people from other countries like the Mediterranian ones Scots, English and Irish seem the same from a distance -pasty/sunburnt, beer swilling, soup opra watching chip munchers lol. The detail and politics is different but the everyday lifestyle and culture is not so different in an outsiders eyes. I think though that the foreigners do pick up on the fact the Scots, Irish and Welsh are friendlier but they would see our lifestyles as the same and would see little difference between all of us islanders. The Germans call us the monkeys on the islands!! The French call us all 'roast beefs'.
