Wow his latest comments just deflate you even more if that was possible.

Sounds like we won't be spending much more at all, not on proven quality anyway. Talking about how difficult the markets are and the "structure" of the club, the challenges of remaining "sustainable", buying low and selling for profits. None of which are ever invested proportionately on the playing field to make us a better team.

We hoard cash like we're about to go bust or something. Either that or the empty suits upstairs have some pretty sizeable offshore accounts scattered around the Caribbean or South America somewhere.

This is slowly turning into a nightmare situation and I honestly think he is fine with it and believes he has what it takes to compete on all fronts.

I think he forgets we got knocked out the * league cup already.

I hate when managers come away with the stuff about teams raising their game against us and how it's a cup final blah blah just meaningless soundbites that mean the square root of * all

He wanted to make an impact in Europe, but getting hammered in the CL groups with a team of projects isn't what we all thought he ment.

Doesn't look as though we are gonna be spending any money on proven quality.

I think he has been unlucky with injuries (at least I hope it's bad luck and not overburdening), but he could sound a little less defensive. It worries me that there are strict budget limits he's not prepared to fight so trying to manage expectations.

I'll judge him after he gets his full team up and running - just hope we don't drop too many points by then.

IMO, his stock was far lower before he signed than we were led to believe. He had no other options than us. And our board held all the cards.

If that’s the case I hope he walks and states the reason why.

That was the media story, just like supposed Saudi interest. PR job to make us fans accept his return.

In reality, nobody wanted him but us, and he agreed to be here for 1-2 years and take up an EPL offer once he customarily wins the SPFL a few times. He had to agree to the club model, and be obedient, though.

We are a stepping stone to him, and he's a band- aid to us. Nothing more.

I dont think he's been promised anything . The stuff he said in the interview is the same stuff he's been saying since he came back

I don’t think that can be the case this early on surely? If it is Rodgers has taken the job when he shouldn’t have and wasn’t really convinced.

That interview is just a club done thing to put out after a poor result.

Looking at things what is club/Rodgers fault and what is out with their control.

    Outwith their control

    - Jota leaving we got a bid we couldn’t turn down and player wanted to go.
    - Starfelt leaving player wanted to go.
    - injury crisis, centre back in particular and our back up striker.
    - our top right back Johnston needing surgery.

    Board/ Rodgers control
    - lack of a new left back, we have known we need one.
    - lack of Jota replacement he left 2 months ago nearly now and we probably already needed another winger.
    - lack of a new goalkeeper.
    - having brought in project centre midfielders when we need a powerful ready to start centre midfielder, not to pick on the guy but I have no idea why we bought Kwon when we were committed to Iwata?

So as hard is this will be to take we need to forget about domestic or European level signings and focus on getting the best players we could for the positions above.

The reality is the biggest determining factor in CL will be the draw. We could have went and got all we need and then drew PSG, Real Madrid and AC Milan and we are screwed regardless.

The thing that does annoy me is if there is any truth in this we are waiting on guys who are unlikely to come here to make their mind up and we have no time to get a suitable other target.

Again back to what is in our control and out of it, getting EPL players to come here is out of our control, getting the best player we can is in our control. Using our brain and not getting strung along is in our control.

We don’t need EPL players we need an athletic all round left back, a strong box to box midfielder, a tricky winger that is good on the ball and as good a goalkeeper that we can get.

Long story short if we do actually sign at least 3 of the 4 positions above and they are the best players we can get we will have a very different team to what we have just now.

On the flip side if we don’t get those players in because we have been strung along rather than going and getting who we could and end up with gaps in the squad, that’s not acceptable.

If the board did not have a previous for going cheap when good players were willing to come for just a bit of flexibility in terms of wages on our part, I'd probably think the reason for Rodgers' words was that the board truly tried their best to deliver marquee signings as "promised", but the players in question and their agents rejected even our best approaches, including Rodgers' own pleas to the players.

I mean, it is technically possible, but we know what our board is like.

You just know he will give a completely different interview post match after a win against St Johnstone. It will be along the lines of “delighted with the recruitment blah blah”…

it’s us over, win a game and try and break bad news thinking we are all stupid, we wouldn’t care because we are all back in after beating the mighty saints.
