How would he have wasted money? He got Idah and Engels with the money from selling O'Riley, who then earned us £40m or so from last season's Champions League.

So last season he earned us £40m without spending a penny really, and was rewarded by the board selling Kyogo and Kuhn then refusing to replace them.

It shouldn't have any impact at all on the decision. Rodgers doesn't set players transfer fees and we've already heard from various sources how * we are in transfer dealings. 6 months ago Rodgers took Bayern all the way in the knockouts of the CL tonight we had Scales at LB, Ralston RB, Yang and Forrest on the wings and no reliable striking option at all that is failings of the board and nothing else considering who has left.

I do agree overall though Rodgers generally is hoaching in the market it was my main concern with him coming back but when he is showing literal progress in Europe whilst still being a success domestically there is no reason at all not to back him.

Rodgers is 100% gone at the end of this season, he has been hung out to dry by the Board, I was livid the first time he left us to go to Leicester but if he decided to leave tomorrow I will see him as a Celtic Legend who always wanted us to be the best that we CAN be and take us to a whole new level but sadly under this Board that will not happen this time round.

The point is never in a million years would they sack Rodgers imo. He's gone at the end of the season anyway, everyone knows that.

They kept Lennon in a job for as long as possible and he was unprofessional, incompetent and overseeing our biggest failure and worst season in two decades. Why would they sack Rodgers when he won't be here in 10 months?

I just see no sense in him making that comment. I'd love it if he said something like "the fans are entitled to their opinion" and left it at that. Nothing more needed to be said.

because they players arent good enough for our first team and the first team is * *

so that amounts to basically a waste of money by rodgers own account if they aint good enough to start against the ones that are

past performance doesnt mean consistent success

im talking about what them players would sell for at this moment ? if they arent good enough to get in and cement a place in this celtic side

i find it bizzare from rodgers himself not playing them, he is effectively saying to the board i cant recognize a good player but at the same time hes apparently knocking back lots of the (boards) celtic recruiters transfer targets ?

what a will say and we all know it our celtic board dont have the ambition to spend the kind of money rodgers wants to spend, thinks he needs to spend to make celtic have a european pedigree again

Yeah of course the should and they're 100% to blame for lack of signings but you can't play the same system without the players.

It's also not as if it's a system that is working fantastically well anyway. Struggled badly towards the end of last season once we lost Jota and had to move Maeda back wide.

He was far more flexible tactically in his 1st spell here

I think he was clearly having a pop at the board. Usually when fans are singing sack the board, it never actually happens, and not long after it, the manager is the fall guy for the fans frustrations. I think it was fairly obvious what Rodgers meant by his answer.

He doesn't sign the players. Think that is pretty evident and he's made that pretty clear since the day he returned

Exactly. So back the manager in the first place.

Rodgers transfers are ropey, to say the least.

Our solution? Hire some gimp in a funny hat, with no experience beyond the English lower leagues, in an as-yet-undefined quasi director of football role.

Called the Tisdale appointment at the time. * bizarre.

A serious board would appoint a serious director of football.

Aye but they haven't so he then needs to adjust.

It's been pretty obvious for a month a winger wasnt coming in before this tie so why has he continued to play a system that needs wingers while leaving

From the little info we get he has final say. They identify players for positions he wants, probably give him a list of players and he picks.

Clearly some of his picks havnt worked well but they have likely been identified by others.

Yes he knew Idah but Norwich were touting him for a loan that January, he nearly went to Italy, no doubt was offered to us and we've then given Rodgers a list of available strikers that January with Idah being on that list.

Given his love for EPL id be shocked if he even knew who Engles was before his name appeared on a list of midfielders handed to him

Doesn't matter how good they are, if you sell £30m worth of our team then replace them with Yang and a geriatric James Forrest then we are always going to get worse.

its all bollocks mate him and the board are at logger heads and the team and the fans are being shafted

if the board dont want him then sack him, but i feel they want him to quit and he aint quitting so again the team and fans are being * over

i dont think we should have went for rodgers he is elite manager but we cant afford him thats why * be gone sooner than later

this feels like ground hog day compared to his last time in charge

He doesn't need to keep playing his best striker at left wing tho does he?

352, 442 diamond, 4222. Would all suit better with the current personnel

It's his job to have the players he had best prepared for 2nyt (his words, not mine).

He should have had a plan b in place in the likelihood the board let him down on signings.

It's not rocket science you can't play the same system and same style, where so much of your creativity comes from your wingers, without Khun and Jota

Yeah definitely been 2018 vibes all summer.

I don't understand Desmond bringing him back to then not support him.

You don't go to effort and expense of hiring an elite manager to then not run at elite level.

We should be absolutely milking Rodgers experience for all it's worth, he's worked at elite level clubs previously, ask him what we are doing wrong, what we could do better in comparison to other clubs and work with him.

I'm pretty sure he's got a far better idea of what makes a club successful rather than a fat accountant does

You think he wanted Kuhn ? Was he a Rodgers or the Clubs signing?

No chance he’s here next year. Why on earth would he stay? Can’t even blame him for today. We ended that game with Scales at left back, Yang on the wing and Yamada up front. Completely * unacceptable on all 3 counts. A backup level CB at LB, a striker the manager didn’t even want and the Korean Mikey Johnston.
