Maybe so, we know Shved was forced onto him for a fact. Be interesting to see what happens.

He is tall, but haven’t seen much to suggest he is strong. Too easily bullied off the ball and doesn’t impose himself. Looked overrun and outfought in the games vs Raskin and diomande.

O’Riley, although not the most physical either, seemed a lot more clever in the positions he took up in the hole and had moments of real quality that changed games.

Brendan Rodgers admits he always envisioned himself coming back to Celtic because he wanted a more fitting legacy than the nature of his departure the first time around afforded him.

After leading the Hoops to domestic Trebles in 2017 and 2018, the former Liverpool boss infuriated sections of the Parkhead fanbase when he jumped ship to join Leicester City in March 2019 in the midst of his team's push for another trophy sweep

The Irishman spent the next five years with the Tigers, memorably guiding them to glory in the FA Cup in 2021. However, just two years later Rodgers left Leicester just weeks before they relegated from the Premier League.

Rodgers sealed his return to Celtic three months later and claimed that he had knocked back offers from England's top-flight and abroad in favour of coming back to Glasgow's East End.

But the 52-year-old concedes he understood the trepidation from some surrounding his arrival.

Speaking to James McFadden for BBC Sport Scotland ahead of the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen, he said: "I knew the feeling when I left and I never wanted that to be my legacy here at Celtic

Growing up as a Celtic guy who had a wonderful first spell here, for that to be my story, I never really wanted that.

"I'd always wanted to come back but I didn't know when it was going to be.

I hoped it would, there was never a guarantee because obviously if people don't want you back, then it wasn't going to be.

"But I was very thankful (that) I had a really good relationship with Dermot (Desmond) and the board when I was here the first time.

"In particular with Dermot and his confidence and belief in me never wavered.

I always wanted to come back and for a multitude of reasons.

"One of them being I wanted Celtic to do well in Europe. I wanted us to bring Celtic into Europe and be respectable and have credibility.

"So that was a big factor whilst still looking to dominate domestically because that is your bread and butter."

I mind first season on Rodgers return, we all knew yang, tilio etc was the aftermath of the Ange work (or what we thought was, I still reckon the club was being lazy in that market and even Ange wasn't for them all either).
But when we signed Nawrocki that first window, many of us thought that was the first/only Rodgers signing of that window.

But the way Nawrocki has been utilised since, screams of the Shved situation as well. Another player seemingly thrusted on the manager and Rodgers seems only to play him when injuries force it.

Where Idah and Engels thrust on him too. He's not very good in the market. Never has been at any club tbh

Clearly not, but I'd say that both have been successful at their levels, price tags not being used

Big, big day for him tomorrow.

The biggest chance he'll get to become our first ever manager to win a historic 3 trebles.

If he does that, his status as a Celtic legend would be complete in my book.

I can see the club saying here is a cheap option to see if you can develop him, no way is he not having a say over 2 of our most expensive signings ever. If he didn't like Idah he would have said don't go back in for him and I doubt Idah would have came back if he didn't think he was wanted.

Your missing the point that I was making that there's a narrative that every signing is pushed on him. Idah and Engels obviously weren't

    Not every.
    But a lot.
And often with all managers we have.

Clearly idah, Engels, maybe Kuhn, are his signings.
Same as Sinclair and Toure certainly were.

But Yang, Tilio, Iwata, Kwon, Holm, Palma, Lagerbeilke, Nawrocki, clearly not.
That's a lot of signings in that season that first season.
Bernardo is debatable, likely not a Rodgers signing.
Philips and Idah look like they were, at least Idah as a permanent signing is.

This season the signings are a lot more in favour of being Rodgers signings. And I would say most have been a success.
Kasper, Sinisalo(debatable if manager pushed for it, but possibly), Trusty, Engels, McCowan, idah and Bernardo (both permanent by Rodgers agreement). Schlupp not a success and Jota not a Rodgers signing but a club opportunity I'm sure Rodgers was happy to agree with.

Be interesting if we invest the same way this summer

Regardless of the outcome, the negativity and reluctance to take responsibility from our players is unacceptable.

His football is * rotten. Even when we’re winning half the support can barely stand to watch what he produces.

He’s been scudded off sacked Hun managers and pundits, now he’s getting schooled off one of the worst Aberdeen teams going in a match they gave him 85% possession.

Just * off. Honestly other managers would produce doubles more convincingly than that without playing that turgid backwards-first football for 90 minutes every game.
