It could be simply distaste for Saudi Arabia as a country, or the realization that his managerial stock would fall lower if he went there than having at least the ECL to feature in with us. And he has enough money.

No, I am a realist, look at his 2nd season with us last time, the huns finished 3rd, they offered no challenge, we win 24, LOST 4 AND DREW 10 games, 82 points easily enough to finish 2nd to the huns if he repeats this.

So he done enough to win a treble? Maybe having no competition led the players to being sloppy. Its a different time and he won every trophy available. No if or buts or imaginary scenarios your coming up with.

Also fails to take into account that the team went from blowing teams out of the water to trying to maintain that domestic unbeaten record. I remember being at Celtic Park, think we were 1-0 against St Mirren or something and we were just passing the ball between Brown, Boyata and Lustig/Tierney for the last 20 minutes. It all became about extending that record.

As soon as Hearts pumped us in the December was it? Our season and play was significantly better after that.

The other thing was he changed the team a lot between league and CL, we also had spells of playing with no striker because Griffiths fitness issues, Dembele was constantly injured too he went from scoring over 30 goals to about 13. Edouard was very raw and only really kicked on the last quarter of the season.

Roberts was resigned and almost instantly got injured. I also think the lack of serious completion played a big part when we had too we turned up. One thing I do like about Rodgers over Ange and it’s probably this second version of Rodgers is that he will adapt his tactics.

I genuinely believe Beale has completely built his team with playing Ange’s Celtic in mind. He knows that we allowed crosses into the box and defended narrow so has bought a team of big physical players and is setting up to get their full backs into crossing positions. Ironically it is probably the last way you would want to play against most of the agricultural teams in our league but against the way Ange played outside CCV and Starfelt we had little physical presence to cope with about 7 big guys for crosses into the box and also a keeper who was glued to his line.

Hopefully we get the players in we need to kick on in Europe and a few of them have decent physicality about them.

So again you are an apologist for him already, stating no competition made the players sloppy, so blame the players not Brendan, the side to side passing possession game was absolutely terrible to watch.

Imagine trying to diminish a treble because you're that * hurt the manager left. Christ Almighty.

Have enough huns and SMSM trying to diminish our achievements under Rodgers and Lennon without so called fans peddling the same * lines. Have a word with yourself.

Obviously early days, but the main difference I'm noticing so far is that we're not suffocating teams like we were under Ange. I can't remember too many matches outwith Sevco that were as competitive as this is today, with as much action taking place in our box. Even last week we gave up a lot of chances.

As said, very early days though.

Great result today but I'm far from convinced. He'll need time before being fully judged but I'm not a fan of most of the tactical tweaks. Far too many long balls and little structure going forward. I agree with Ange before that if we don't continue to play out consistently we'll never become experts at it. I worry that we'll never become press resistant if we just hit it long whenever a team presses us up high, and many better teams than Aberdeen will do it over the course of the season.

Anyway, enough complaining for now as it was a great result - but aye, work to do.

Don't like how we're playing atm.

Press is basically gone, we just track back all the way to our penalty area. Not pressing higher up the pitch just exposes our defensive frailties, we don't have the players to cope with it at the back.

Additionally, we are slow moving forward. At times when we would previously break forward, the players now very clearly hold up the ball and wait for others to get ahead of them. It is a slow, ponderous build-up compared to what we're used to that leaves our defence even further exposed when we get intercepted and everyone's ahead of the ball.

Our players were signed for a different system, some will adapt but others don't have the skillset.

It's blatantly obvious we are not pressing as quickly or moving the ball upfield quickly like we did under Ange. It was so slow at times today and our inability to deal with balls over the top was worrying. If Rodgers has totally ditched the way we played under Ange it will be disappointing but I suppose we will just have to accept it. Oh, and a new LB, box to box powerful CM and GK would help

Love how he changes it immediately and didn’t wait till it was too late.

Aye its a positive, was my biggest issue with Ange, we'd often make subs way too late when it wasn't going our way.

Either way I can see the type of football Rodgers wants to play, just doesnt have thr players for it yet, need a move-on.

Hatate was as woeful pre-season. That's probably why he was dropped. Why didn't he drop all the other Ange signings if your theory held any water?

Our football is far too slow from the back, we’re good once its into midfield but it’s clear to see why the inverted fullbacks worked so well to get the ball forward quicker and create more space.

The counter press is still pretty good but the front press is definitely more passive now. It’s all a lot more methodical and slow.

Unfortunately it’s a tough backwards step for us in terms of watching exciting football from Angeball to Rodgers style.

    Delighted with the result.

Work to be done but we are missing players and also missing new players so I'd expect us to be a different side come mid September with another 5 or 6 games behind us.

Was always gonna be a slight transition. Despite him being here previously he's taking on a completely new generation of players who have been playing quite an intense and unique style, I think people are choosing to ignore that and expecting business as usual from day one. That's unrealistic.

I hope to see a bit more consistency in our play over the next few weeks. Still looks a bit disjointed.

Overall I'm happy to have that 3 points today. 6 out of 6. Was very apprehensive beforehand.

Agree with all this. Some of the link up in the final third is lovely but the transition of the ball from the back to front looks really slow and unstructured. Far too many long punts. Hope that structure between defence, midfield and the forward line will come with time.

It's a tough crowd, need to give the manager time, players will come in.
