It was nowhere near similar to Dortmund.

 

If Villa had their shooting boots on - they would have scored 7 easily enough like Dortmund. They had more of the ball than Dortmund did, dreated more chances and had more shots on goal. Fortunately Schmeichel was in good form and Villa left a rake of goals on the field.

We had a good 20 min spell first half. Rest was Villa lining up chances.

 

* me idah and scales probably off for a few games next ffs. Yeah we have great strikers. And broony would have played better than our midfield. Weak as pish. HH

 

At the end of the day, Palma and Yang should've been nowhere near that game. Not necessarily his fault.

 

Its ok guys we will sign another 5 wingers this window. Getting tired of managers and board not fixing the holes in the team that have been there for way to long.

 

Really enjoyed our champions league campaign so far. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to say that. Only 2 defeats in 8 games of the league phase and that was to borussia dortmund and a top quality villa team. Played some good football, defintely has been an improvement. Rodgers has us going in the right direction. Couple more additions and we’ll be looking solid af

 

Conceding 4 last night has took a bit of focus away from how solid we’d been defensively since Dortmund. Some proper defending as a team, concentration brilliant and having a keeper there to save us the moment or two in a match it’s needed - and we will always concede at the very least 1 or 2 even at the most solid possible at this level.

11 between Dortmund and Villa aside (I know it’s a big aside), the other 6 games we conceded 3. One OG, one whilst smashing a team conceding a wondergoal and 1 against RBL that we showed resilience reacting to it and blew them away. By 70 minutes in they didn’t think they possibly could make a chance.


That stuff there, was my worry about BR, I didn’t think he knew how to. Dortmund thumping and out reaction to it next game against Atalanta, a very attacking high scoring team and what we done.

Pausing to reflect before the play off, I’m so happy with what we’ve seen. And it still feels like we have plenty of room for growth, still a work in progress at that level and as a team. He deserves so much credit

 

Get Tierney in, jota on the wing and forrest will be back, that'll strengthen up the bench for the next round. Infact, many of you think we've no chance. Well I hope that's what the other team think. We're going out to * maul them. Last 16 here we go.

 

What * me off with BR is he is too set in his ways, never tries a different formation, especially when faced with injuries to key players or, last night, suspension. When a player of Maedas quality becomes unavailable, and also Forrest, and Yang is the option, surely system needs a tweak. Cannot get away with a Yang or Palma in CL away games.

I’m also not sure why Palma gets as much hate he’s not as bad as everyone makes out his stats from last season prove that! Just don’t think he suits how we’re playing and evolving under Rodgers system

 

McCowan and Bernardo, but that would have meant a tweak in formation or even start Luke on the wing, I think he may have played right wing before.

 

Then at 60mins+ when the teams * and needs fresh legs who comes on?

He never had a choice.

 

He could have made subs sooner.

 

Yes because we needed longer with the under 18s. He never made subs because they were below par quality wise, and the longer with that, the worse happens. Another 2 quality additions and suddenly we have options in games like that. Hopefully they get there finger out

 

McCowan and Bernardo are good enough.

 

Genuinely crazy that some on here want to blame Rodgers for that last goal.

He could win us the Champions League and some on here would still complain about him. As mentioned above, totally weird behaviour.

 

Well they were both utter pish for there 10 mins. Glad they never got 30.
