They do back the players. But when there are poor individual performances over a period of time, equally, they have every right to let them know.

Taylor, for example, has cost the club on a host of occasions. Particularly in Europe. Rodgers should stop telling fans how they should feel about the team for a man that decided to turn his back on them in the middle of a season.

I think Rodgers has a point on both scores but it does show how difficult it can be to be the Celtic manager. The supporters are amongst the most demanding. That is just how we are. We expect the best at all times and can get frustrated easily. Sometimes it can be unhelpful which is what BR is getting at which tbf is not a bad point.

His comments on Taylor are obviously designed to a) boost the player and b) show other players he will have their back if they apply themselves.

Taylor has had a contract on the table for ages and won’t sign it. So he can away and * dry his eyes. The door isn’t there to keep you in son. Rodgers talking about fans signing about KT is stupid. He is bang on regarding our fans not being patient however. The Brugge game was a total embarrassment from our fans, and we are guilty of getting players backs too easily. Fans are happy to give it out, but are touchy when they get it back.

Unjustified criticism at times over a back pass or when it's no 3 goals up at half time

It's made worse by the fact there was no mass booing and people in here are taking what he said as Gospel. He has a history of lying.

Honestly I think these comments from Rodgers are quite troubling.

I don’t think they’re genuine at all. They seem quite bizarre.

If I had to guess, I’d say he’s laying the groundwork for * off again.

I don't think any Celtic manager should ever be giving the fans too much criticism- folks who go week in week out, support the team, provide a huge amount of revenue, are entitled to voice their opinion within limits, and no lines were crossed today. Rogers especially is in no position to dish out anything, he's still got bridges to repair.

Was a sore one for everyone, but today helped a lot. What we need now is another run of wins and a performance against YB to get everyone back pushing in the same direction.

The comments were embarrassing your right. The fact hes saying it’s disrespectful to Taylor when no one mentioned Taylor and was just a song for the return of a guy who was a hero here tells you all you need to know…he mentioned Taylor because he knows he’s not good enough for here. Shouldn’t have even mentioned him.

He’s spot on about the moaning and groaning, but not the Taylor stuff. Our support are a joke at times. If we’re not comfortably winning a game it doesn’t take long for the crowd to get on the players backs.

Today there was the standard “Stand up for the champions” chant early on and half the stadium didn’t bother their * to get up. The same people are quick to point out a mistake though.

    This.

Large proportions of our fanbase have become spoilt. We can't pelt the opposition goal with shots for 90 mins. The atmosphere during the brugge game was a bit of a riddy as well...so expectant.

I don't think he'd normally jump on the Taylor comment...I think the aftermath to Thursday has rattled him slightly.

I think he’s spot on and I’ve said it on here many times.

I’m guilty of venting on here but when I went to the games permanently and if I’m there now, I always make a point of encouraging the team regardless of the situation,

The players don’t read TalkCeltic during the game, but the crowd reaction absolutely affects the momentum in the game.

Fair enough, those fans have made an effort to go to the game and spent their money, but I think a lot of it comes from a place of ignorance, and a lack of perspective on football as a sport due to them only watching Celtic their entire lives.

I also hugely disagree with the old saying that you’ve paid your money so can do and say what you want. This should never be the case and would never be tolerated in any other place in society.

It is most apparent at European games when we are expected to win. It’s fine when we’re the underdog playing against a team in a top 4 league, but any time we play a team like Club Brugge or Bodo Glimt, the atmosphere it always utter pish, probably down to a lack of knowledge and respect for the opposition from our supporters.

Is it also not disrespectful to Luke or others sitting on that bench watching Hatate and Taylor/Scales play in front of players that deserve to have their shot when they are playing so bad.
    You never complained on Thurs?

Wants to keep his mouth shut.

He's been given a second chance here by a lot of supporters he let down by * off and leaving us at a crucial time and off the back of getting his pants pulled down by that baldy * who can't string to results together, having a pop at the fans who are still feeling the embarrassment of Thursday, isn't exactly his wisest move.

What's next don't sing Willie Maley bcoz it will hurt his feelings?

Agree with him about supporters needing to stick with the team and not wait until we are 3-0 up to start supporting the team.

Although there needs to be an acceptance on his side that our play recently has been slow, pedestrian and sloppy which is where the groans are mostly coming from. You can argue it’s harsh because of where we are in the league but we all know results in isolation aren’t always good enough - the performance level needs to be up there as well.

Not sure why he raised it today because it’s not like it’s a new thing.

On the KT topic, totally disagree with him. The club have allowed that info to get out for a reason, he now can’t complain that the fans are getting excited about the prospect of a £25m player coming home to his boyhood team.

It’s nothing to do with Taylor.

It's been a difficult week for Celtic fans, and I can fully understand Brendan feeling a bit tetchy.

Probably just an overreaction on his part, and he is only trying to protect the player.

I don't think there is much in this, and we should not indulge ourselves in any navel gazing over it, let's just get on with the job in hand.

We help to pay the players wages and have every right to have an opinion whether he likes it or not. Telling supporters about respect is a bit rich coming from someone whom he treated with total disregard when he sneaked off to Leicester.
