Brendan Rodgers Discussion Thread

A little worried by how * off he seems, hopefully we can just keep things positive as the Young Boys game is huge.

 

Probably been up at wee Greggs gaff through the week, talking up his importance and pouring honey in his ear about the Celtic family blah blah only to have his wee speech undermined by Celtic fans today being excited about a proper LB signing for us and his ego has felt the need to retaliate.

 

Because he was forced to drop his favourites and the team was better for it

I think we'll be fine by the time that game comes, I think both the fans and Rodgers haven't fully recovered from that game on Thursday, despite the good results today, there's still a bit of tension over that, rightfully so tbh.

 

Honestly man Rodgers could say to some of our supporters "here yer maw's a cow" and the response would be "Aye no wit Brendan yer bang on".

 

Don't think Rodgers of all people is in the position to question the supporters about respect.

 

That's the kinda * that would get thrown at him and the players on a regular basis.

 

Thursday was an absolute disgrace. Made a very average Rangers team look like Real Madrid. Their left back playing at right back had more shots than our entire team. So the crowd were always going to be edgy. Sometimes the support can be impatient but Thursday was honestly so bad that I dont have an issue with the support letting the team know all about it.

Comments smack a bit like Rodgers is still sore over the loss and having a go back. Ego has been bruised.

 

Don’t see much wrong with what he’s saying tbh. Think he’s missing the context though given we got a doing off the Huns so rightly we are a bit on edge. It’s not so much a lack of respect, more frustration. if anything it’s a compliment because we know what we are capable of. Over and done with for me, onto the next

 

The groans when we kept going back the way were very audible today. Think there was a tension in the air and an anxiety to banish Thursday's horror show and really go for the jugular after the huns dropped points but some of it is a bit much.
Having said that though, sometimes we do * about with the ball so much more than necessary, like 3 or 4 passes to send the ball wide where it should have been going with the first pass. Sometimes we end up with a corner or the ball at the edge of the box and instead of it leading to a shot or a chance, the ball somehow ends up back with Kasper.
I don't shout and bawl or go mad when it happens but it does get a bit frustrating.

 

Pointless to tackle the fans

 

Wind your neck in Brendan. Nobody needs lectures about respect from you!

 

He’s obviously a bit * off still. Ego would’ve taken a hit after Thursday (and the cup final) performances. Scales experiment from HT onwards and on Thursday not paying off. 5 of his summer signings sitting on the bench too at Ibrox must have been quite embarrassing.

Hes got to find a different way of playing now against Rangers. We might be fine at home that way but away or at Hampden they will it’s not working and won’t anytime soon.

 

So we've established it's fine for fans to criticise tactics/players


But how dare Brendan criticise the fans for something he feels strongly about

 

The fans aren't getting paid millions of pounds per year from the club.

In contrast the club makes millions off the fans. So yeah they're perfectly entitled to criticise stuff they don't like seeing on the pitch.

Rodgers, as manager, should suck it up. His ego won't let him.

 

This is as fair as you can get neilly. Was huffing a bit myself at times today, we're definitely not as quick moving up the park as we should be and have plenty to work on.

So aye, unavoidable to have some grumbles of discontent but equally Rodgers is within his rights to be * about it.

 

Engels did get dropped. Hatate has been in and out the team as well. Likewise Scales.

 

The fans should actually back the * players instead moaning at the smallest of * things


Absolutely embarrassing

 

Taken me days to get over Thursday. He isn't the only one that's been hurting, and he could've done more to change it up on the day!.

His comments about Tierney and Taylor are a riddy..

 

Being excited about the return of a fan favourite isn't criticising a current player though. There's more going on behind the scenes here imo.
