Don't laugh but Yilmaz is aboot to take a penalty

 

He needs to go the market to good effect in Jan. Crucial window . We need a huge freshen up. LB , CM , LW.

 

His record at Hampden is astonishing. His record against the huns is astonishing - and baldy Beale alone has had 6 go's at him and just can't beat him.

 

Just in from the Brazen. I think that's the 1st time we've beat them on penalties since I started going. Our mentality against the huns and sheep when conceding late on has been outstanding.

I thought Bernardo should have stayed on, as he was out best player at one point, but what do I know? Brendan was proved right with Reo being clinical.

 

The second half was the best showing from Hatate in a good while, thought he was really good.

 

He was better then. Maybe there is a fitness issue with Bernardo, but I think it was him that played that great ball to Kuhn in the first half. The subs won us the game, so can't complain.

 

Needs to adjust the midfield set up which has been an issue in some european games as well. Hatate and Bernard/Engels positioned too far forward and against a team with a bit better ability, our midfield is exposed, especially when we turn the ball over. It also isolates Kyogo completely as the game is too congested.
For me he needs to be dropping Hatate a bit deeper or nearer to McGregor to allow for a second option out of defence

 

Huge result yesterday but also a good match to learn from.

Performances have went stale since the Leipzig win. We look bereft of ideas and quite predictable. Back to the passing (sideways and backwards) that we saw in his third season in his last spell.

McGregor was too isolated in midfield. Needs someone in there next to him in these games.

Need a couple of signings in January. Thought our bench yesterday was very weak. Forrest, Idah and Engels the only players really capable of impacting us going forward. Another winger is desperately needed.

 

Always happens when we've alot of games in a row. They don't actually spend time training, it's all recovery work. Hopefully no midweek game gives us a bit of time to work on a few tweaks I'm sure he'll want to make.

Glad to see he's willing to take difficult decisions when they're needed and not worry about player's egos. It was the right move taking Trusty off at half time and dropping Engels for Bernardo in recent games had to be done. Some managers just go on pig-headedly picking the same players when the need for a change is obvious.
I do wish he'd do the same with tactics. With guys like Maeda, Kyogo an Kuhn in the team why not play some more balls over the top and down the channels when we're being pressed high then get our midfielders forward quickly to start our own press if we lose the ball. There must be space if the opposition are commiting men to pressing us.

 

Our performances have dipped but that is impressive however you slice it up.

 

He has totally transformed the whole club into an absolutely granite, winning machine. His return wasn’t the smoothest and at times, last season was an utter slog but we’re reaping the benefits of sticking by him and actually backing him in the summer.

Performances have dipped in the past few weeks and yesterday wasn’t great by any stretch of the imagination however we won a cup final against the Huns who were apparently as good as they could ever be by scoring 3 goals without even getting out of second gear.

I’m in no doubt that’ll be the kickstart we needed to get back to the level we were at a couple months ago.
