His record against them is phenomenal. No wonder they hate him :56:

Glad he mentioned the lines for the first goal definitely looked onside to me they were very cute only showing one angle from 15+ yards infront of play

Don't think his Glasgow derby record is shouted from the rooftops enough by the media in Scotland.

People go on about how he's been up against weak hun teams etc. But that's totally missing the point.

In every single one of these derbies, the build-up is always the same. Rangers players and pundits are constantly building them up to get a result and try to put insane pressure on us. Even more so the more we've won. Almost every game Rodgers has faced Rangers he's had to deal with a "this time it'll be different" narrative.

Not to mention plenty of them have been semi-finals and cup finals, which only feed that "different this time" narrative even further.

And now he's sitting at 1 defeat in 19 derby games. To put that into perspective - that's half a * league season of derbies he's coached and lost just one. Incredible.

    Fabulous today :BR1:
I also liked the fact that despite winning 3-0, he was still looking for improvement - like being too passive in first 10mins etc.
Love that, never totally happy and always looking to improve.

Players walking round the park at end of the game and he's at the back of the group with an arm around Hatate pointing and telling him stuff. Even at that moment of joy, he's still trying to improve players, just never switches off.

An elite manager and so lucky to have him back

It was a beautiful Sunday at Celtic Park as Brendan Rodgers’ men cruised to a 3-0 victory in the Glasgow derby.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, the Celts’ boss said that he has been impressed by his team’s mentality since before the start of the season and praised the defensive qualities of the champions as well as their creativity going forward.

“We’ve seen from pre-season that mentality to defend,” he said. “And if the team does break through then you’ve got Kasper who’s a world-class goalkeeper to make the save.

‘Keeping the clean sheet was important to us. That takes hunger and mentality.’

“It’s a decision to want to go and defend and press.

“To score the goals and create the opportunities was great. But the defensive part of the game is still very important.

‘From the first day of pre-season, the players’ focus and work rate has been very impressive.’

“I thought we were electric going forward today at times, and we had good opportunities to be even more convincing.

“But I’m so pleased to get to this period. We can now analyse, reset and come back really excited for the next game against Hearts.”

It was a memorable day for two of Celtic’s senior players with Captain Callum McGregor scoring a sensational goal to make it 3-0 and James Forrest making his 500th appearance for the club.

On Callum McGregor’s performance, Brendan said: “He’s an outstanding captain.

“He had a man-marker on him today but he’s so clever, he knows when to drop the marker and when to attack the space.

“He’s such a tempo setter for this team.”

On James Forrest reaching the extraordinary milestone of 500 Celtic appearances, Brendan added: “It’s absolutely remarkable the longevity that James has had at this club.

“Especially for a winger, there’s a big demand on all players here at Celtic but especially attacking players.

“For him to get his 500th appearance today is absolutely fantastic.”

There’s always one. Enjoy the day, less of the ‘I told you so’

People were rightly upset when he left, these things run deep. He had a lot of making up to do, and he really is doing it.

The huns now are no great shakes but they are still a considerably stronger team than what Rodgers faced first time around and he's now whipped them aswell. They can't use the narrative they are fielding guys like Joe Garner and Rob Kiernan now.

Perhaps on paper but that's 3rd time iv seen them now this season and opinion hasn't changed. This is the worst huns team I ever seen.

That's not taking anything away from us bcoz I thought we were great but I think they have a real fight on for 2nd.

Fair point. I think they have a higher level of player than what they did back then so I still expect them to finish 2nd but we have a superior coach in the dugout and that's what seperates them from us.

EDIT: We also have better players too...
