Time will tell. I hope he is successful. All I'm saying is there are no guarantees and some people have been saying we're pretty much guarenteed domestic success under him. I don't think that's the case.

Same with every manager on earth. We could get pep and loose. The board however haven't went for the cheap option, so have gave us the best chance to achieve what we are setting out to do and thats all that can he asked.

European performances were better in second season than the other seasons

I’d rather we continued on the strategy we are going just now and continue to build the club up than gamble on huge transfers

I know that's the case with every manager, that's my point. Some people on here don't seem to realise that. And it's a matter of opinion whether he was the best option. I'm not convinced.

I'm still feeling quite positive about this, but I actually think he's lied to us already. I flat don't believe him about having watched virtually every Celtic game since leaving us.

It doesn't change what I think about the appointment. He comes with this kind of baggage, we knew that.

Don't believe it either as even I've not managed that :giggle1:

But I'm not buying into the chat again. Ange spun us his own * as well let's not forget, as did Lennon just in another form of narcissism.

They all do it. They know we can make or break them.

It's time we as a fanbase just accept it and back them as long as they're here but don't get drawn in.

aye so do i, Think i it was suggested somewhere (Sutton perhaps?) That if he is back then there would be big budgets, big players.I had a feeling Rodgers would have to get on board with the way things have been done as it's going well

Well with the bids we have been making it seems the strategy we are going down is still in place and talk of huge transfers fees are just false

Still only early days tbh. We have until end of august, I’d imagine he’d want to have a few sessions and assess the squad more personally before he picks out big players to splash out on for what he thinks are key areas. A couple of these low risk high potential young players for now are good and hopefully in a few weeks time we see more activity with regards to spending big on more quality/established players

He'll have watched loads of games, not necessarily as a supporter but on a professional level. We've played ridiculously successful football with new signings. He'll have been checking out players who he may want to bring to Leicester while also looking at our tactics and if he can integrate any to his side. He'll have also been interested to see how players he's previous manager (i.e. McGregor) have developed and see if he can do the same thing to players in his team.
Most successful managers keep up to do date with inventive and successful teams of a similar level.

Brendan Rodgers says he’s ready for any challenge Rangers or Michael Beale throws at him.

The new Celtic boss knows their Old Firm rivals are desperate to wrestle the Scottish Premiership title away from Parkhead. But Rodgers, who worked with Ibrox gaffer Bealeat Chelsea and Liverpool previously, is relishing that battle. On his return to the Hoops, he insists he WANTS to be tested from across the city because it will only bring out the best in him and Celtic.

As he geared up to defend the club’s domestic Treble, Rodgers was asked if he’d thrive in a situation where Rangers were coming after them. He said: “What do you think? That’s why I'm here. It was the same when I came to Celtic the first time around. It was clear Rangers were on the up. They had beaten Celtic on penalties in the Scottish Cup semi-final. But my focus was on making Celtic the best we could possibly be - and to succeed

It’s exactly the same now. It’s competition, and you need that because it allows you to be the best you can be. That will be great for me.

Everyone knows the challenge of being at Celtic or Rangers - you need to win games. You’ve got to win trophies and you’ve got to win them in a certain style.”

Rodgers first came across Beale at Stamford Bridge when he was reserve team boss and the Londoner worked in Chelsea’s academy. They later crossed paths at Anfield when Rodgers was Liverpool’s gaffer.

And more recently they’ve been in opposing dug-outs - when Beale was Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers and Aston Villa. Celtic’s new boss respects the journey Beale has been on to end up in the Ibrox hot-seat and admires him for taking on the challenge of toppling the champions

Rodgers said: “Michael is starting out in his managerial career and he’s taken on a huge job at Rangers. But I always respect every manager who goes in because it’s such a tough gig, especially at a big club.

Back at Chelsea, I knew he had a love of the game. I was working with the youth team and reserves at the time but I knew he had passion and we communicated a lot.

“He was clearly ambitious and wanting to progress which was great and he’s done that. He made a really good start at QPR before coming up here.

“He knows the climate, the challenge, the pressures and the expectations. Michael wanted to take that on.

In the past, we’ve just had football chats. We would talk when we were at Liverpool together.

“I changed the academy there and brought Alex Inglethorpe in, who is still there now. He knew Michael, so through that relationship we would speak. And we bumped into each other from time to time when he was at Aston Villa too.”
