Tbf, She said no offense was taken and that she didn't think think any offense was intended. She may well have still thought it was weird, and be embarrassed about it/for him, but just wanted to draw a line under it, as we all know certain sections of the media would try to paint her as a hysterical feminist, which probably isn't ideal working as a journalist in men's football

I doubt she'd be thrilled if he did it again, put it that way

Don’t think it was quite getting offended on someone else behalf, maybe some and some others just wanting any chance to stick the boot in, from the ones I know that disliked it most and took a dislike to Rodgers about it weren’t offended on anyones behalf, just seen a patronising misogynistic side they’ve all encountered before and thought ‘he’s a *’. For the record, I think he’s equally patronising at times regardless of it being a woman or man.

People will judge others with what they say and do, and always have, it’s not a new thing.

Aye she drew a line under it, if she didn’t and dug her heels in then it goes to her being questioned about being able to take it in a mans game or is too sensitive to get a dig and not just get on with it, because that happens between managers and journalists a lot.

He is. It doesn’t get mentioned when it’s a man he is doing it to though. So should it be any different with a woman? It certainly wasn’t sexist as some were saying.

It was sexist, question is if he meant it as so. Doesn’t matter either way really, you’re the one bringing it back up for some reason.

Also, it gets mentioned * constantly, by our fans more than most he’s patronising as *:56:

Brendan Rodgers has spoke of frustrations at Celtic’s ongoing injury woes as he revealed another defender has suffered a setback.

Liam Scales has been ruled out of this weekend’s game against St Johnstone and joins a long list of players to miss key games this season.

The champions have been boosted by the return of Cameron Carter-Vickers who Rodgers says is available to play on Saturday as they look to reclaim top spot in the Premiership.

Reo Hatate is also on his way back from a long-term injury and has returned to training but won’t be available until after the international break at the earliest.

Meanwhile captain Callum McGregor is still around two weeks away from returning to lead the side in the race for the title

Others such as Greg Taylor, Maik Nawrocki, Stephen Welsh, Alistair Johnston and Tomoki Iwata have all been out for spells this season meaning Rodgers has struggled to find consistency in his team selection.

Speaking to the press on Friday ahead of the game against Craig Levein’s side, the Celtic boss said: “Reo (Hatate’s) not an option for this weekend, we will look at that again after the international break, thankfully he is back training with the squad now but he still has a bit of work to do over the next few weeks in terms of his actual football fitness.

“I expect Callum (McGregor) to be back after the international break, he’s feeling good but we will assess him again after the next week to ten days and see if he’s ready for the Livingston game.

“Cameron Carter-Vickers is fine, he has trained and looks good, so that’s great that he’s available. But Liam Scales will miss the game as he picked up a knock in training.

“He has been really robust and everything about him has been great for us since he came into the team, so sadly he misses this game as he has played virtually every other minute. He should be back after the international break as well.

“It’s been an issue throughout the team but mainly in that defensive line were your stability comes from, so it’s a shame for Liam as he’s had a great run.

The biggest frustration for me over the course of this season is not being able to put out our strongest eleven but the players have given me everything up until this point, they’ve worked really so hard and we can still finish of the season on a really high moment.”

Celtic are currently two points behind league leaders Rangers at the top of the Premiership but will leapfrog their city-rivals if they can take three points at home against the Perth side on Saturday with Philippe Clement’s men not in action until they travel to Dundee on Sunday

I never actually. I just asked if everyone was ok with him ending his interview at the weekend with good man. You then went on to talk about the actual interview and its interpretation from the other week.

As the Cheltenham festival wound down for another year yesterday, it was perhaps an opportune time for Brendan Rodgers to draw an analogy between Celtic’s season and the winners who ultimately went into the record books over the course of the week.

His side have hit more than a few fences over this term, and have had to deal with more than a few handicaps along the way too, such as a plethora of injuries, unrest from the stands, a middle-east conflict affecting the availability of one of his star wingers and a disappointing January transfer window.

However, both he and his team are still standing, and are still in this title race as the two favourites turn for home. And should Celtic emerge as the victors, Rodgers is stressing to his players that no one will remember what went on beforehand.

Of course, he is in something of an unfamiliar position at the minute, being the one stalking the leader, Rangers, rather than being the one out in front. But that isn’t perturbing him as he tries to project a level of constancy to his men during this season of flux.

“It doesn’t really make a difference to me,” Rodgers said.

“It’s all about how you finish the race. This is the point that matters. There was a lot of noise and everything around the beginning of the season for whatever reasons.

“But ultimately, it’s part of the season and I will be interested if we win the league and the Scottish Cup what the thoughts are around that.

“But my only thought is for the team going into a real exciting bit, having these players back, and dealing with the pressure that comes with these last period of games.

“Being the hunter or the hunted doesn’t really matter to me. It’s about performing and getting to the end point where you want to finish. I’m only thinking about the game [on Saturday], St Johnstone.

“We are still in a really good position with what looks like is going to be a strong squad for the run in. I am really looking forward to that because it’s been good, a challenge in so many different ways, but that’s why we are here - to take on those challenges and come together and finish as strong as we possibly can.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the team perform against St Johnstone. I know the type of game it will be but I’m looking forward to seeing us cope with that and play with the intensity we want to get the three points

Then we will draw a line under it, recover and hopefully the international boys come back okay.

“Then we are into the last part of the race which is the most important part. It’s always about how you finish.”

One thing that would help Celtic finish strongly would be a fully fit Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of their defence, where he will line up against St Johnstone this afternoon after missing the Scottish Cup win over Livingston

Rodgers is delighted to have him back, not only for the assuredness he brings to his backline, but for the effect he has on the rest of the team and the way Celtic are able to play.

“He’s such a big player for us,” he said.

It shows you the level he is at because he makes all the players around him better. That’s always when you know you’ve got a really good player.

“His pace, power and his game knowledge - he snuffs out danger and gives confidence to the rest of the team.”

Rodgers has worked with some top level defenders over the course of his career, and he is sure that Carter-Vickers would rank creditably among them, just as soon as he has had a chance to properly judge him over consistent run of games

I’ll see over a period of time,” he said.

“I haven’t really had a lot of time to work with him.

“There’s no doubt he gained a lot of experience out on loan at different clubs with he was with Tottenham.

“He found a home here and he’s a player you trust your life with. He’s so strong, he’s so brave but he can play football and he knows football

He’s still got the best years ahead of him. Thankfully, that can be here at Celtic. He signed a new deal and now it’s just a case of getting over this inconsistent period of injury.

He’s never had that before, and he feels it has stemmed from his knee operation. That sometimes happens. It’s been an injury-hit season for him but hopefully he can now stay fit over the course of these next couple of months.

“Then if he has a good pre-season, he will be ready to go again.”

A few weeks ago, Rodgers was optimistic that the Celtic medical team had finally gotten to the bottom of the ongoing issues affecting Carter-Vickers, but he isn’t concerned about his long-term fitness despite the defender having another scare, preferring to err on the side of caution than lose him for a longer period.

“Innocuous moments have led to him being out,” he said.

“Earlier in the season, he felt something in the warm-up then thought he was okay.

“At Aberdeen, he made a sprint and continued to sprint and felt it wasn’t correct. At Ross County as well, it just didn’t feel right

Obviously we look closely at the management of it. This time last week, he just made a pass in training and felt something again.

“I think it’s also around having had the sensation before. Six months earlier, you wouldn’t even think about it.

“But because you’ve had a couple of injuries, it makes you think a little bit. We just didn’t want to take the risk with him last week because previous experience has told us that when he’s felt something and played on, we’ve ended up in a worse situation.”

Cringed a bit when he brought Lagerbielke on about 3 mins after we conceded.

Should have been the initial change if he wanted to rest CCV.

Things mean what people intend them to mean. You can't say it's sexist regardless of whether he meant it as such. That's exactly what's wrong about how we talk about these things these days.

I still remember Iwata being bullied by Curtis Main all game, while playing at CB last last season. He shouldn't be played there in this league.

Iwata has been tried there a couple of times. Being a DMF is not the same thing as being a CB, but just like Lennon with Bitton, Rodgers continues the square pegs in round holes... in this 5 substitute era.

Thought our intent from the off was good today..

Quick throw ins, pressing and hunting in packs. 15 minutes in you could see sone St Johnstone players blowing and I knew we'd pump them..

Unlucky no to win that by about 7 today..

I didn’t see the game today but if we play like that then these defensive strategies will never ever work against us.

If you don’t work then the first 20 mins you can potentially be in trouble but if you do nothing but tire them out you’ll always get goals in the final 20 mins if you need them.

Throw ins were mega noticeable man, it feels like such a petty wee thing, but it does my nut in waiting 10 seconds getting the ball back into play. Getting it in instantly just gives no breathing space, was the very first thing I noticed under Ange, especially compared to the season before him.

This season largely you’ve seen long pauses looking for a spare man, and an option ignored when there’s one there or going to take a quick one but stopping and waiting for a full back to take them instead…

It’s aggressive and positive, far more fluid.

Concern for me is that we haven't kept a clean sheet in the league since Ross County at home.

    That's about 7 games I think.

Aye, teams can't live with that. Could see instantly they wouldn't be able to cope..

Aye they were trying to get their breath big time at any throw ins or freekicks for them. We on the other hand were chucking balls out of play as the our thrower was about to take another throw in..

We were good like that today and hunting in packs big time they didn't get any time to turn and spray it about..

    * sick of hearing about this pish about people being sexist yada yada yada woke * nonsense.

Its went too far and it's impossible to keep up with what your supposedly allowed to say and what you are not.

All these woke * need a dose of real life.

If you wake up in the morning looking to be offended then you're guaranteed to get offended.

Just over a century ago people were working 12 hour shifts down a mine Monday to Saturday. Only then to be concripted into the army and forced to walk in front of a machine gun or they would be shot for cowardice. They didnt have time to worry about being offended in general....never mind by stupid * like today.

...........................and now I've said that.......I guarantee you somebody will be offended by it. * get a grip every *
