Free publicity, makes them look relevant, might possibly attract future funding... of course they are.

There's no reason for them not to, since there can't really be much pushback. If you don't accept their interpretation, you're condoning and enabling whatever "ism" is in question (which is totally circular, but when has that ever stopped any of these organisations?). If they make a big enough fuss, the club will have to make him apologise, regardless of whether he really was being sexist.

In the old days apologies we're accepted...now they just make things worse. Anyhoo, maybe we could fire him on the basis of bringing the club into disrepute...silver linings and all

In no way should he be apologising. I don’t even think he lost his cool as people are suggesting. He deliberately went down the road he did, for a reason that should be obvious to everyone but some are missing it. He then put the interviewer in her box after she was clearly niggling away. Just as she has every right to ask the questions she did, Rodgers has every right to respond the way he did. As I said, it was a nothing comment that’s been blown well out of proportion, by both our enemies and some of our own.

Context is everything. I only read the words from here initially. Probably shouldn't have said it.

Then, I actually listened to it and thought it's a prickly interview all round, nothing in it.

Then watched this and seeing what unfolded as well as hearing it gives more context.

    Sniff sniff. Move on.

Like the vast majority of media outrage this feels very contrived but he should just apologise and everyone will have moved on by next week. Gives everyone screaming offence their 15 minutes of fame and we can focus on more important things. Would feel wrong to create a hill to die on over something so daft when he's already got heat on him for actual football reasons.

Its not just their interpretation though, is it, its a view held by many nowadays thankfully. I have absolutely no problem with putting the media in its place or for that matter anyone being/acting a *. However if you need to be a * yourself to do that then thats what you are also. Whether he is really a sexist or not I have no idea but I know he has acted like one at the end of that interview. So a simple apology/clarification and move on but we know his ego will make that hard to do.

I wish we didn't have/need these organisations but we have them because the reality is they are needed to highlight inequality. Its not them that are the problem therefore i wouldn't be looking to insinuate that they are part of the problem.

See when you hear how he’s done that in the interview, what more does she want him to say?

He is saying what most of us think, the momentum is all with them at the moment and they are on a good run of form but I am pretty sure looking at early 2022 when we smashed them to go top and despite them getting good Euro results there wasn’t this strolling to the title there is now. It was talk of a slim margin.

The good girl bit is like the sign off he would have said good guy/ man if that had been a male. Should he have said good woman? That might be the only argument but that probably sounds even more condescending.

It must be torture getting interviewed these days for these things, they are looking to constantly trip you up and then there is this over sensitivity. I agree people shouldn’t be allowed to be sexist, racist etc but that interview is none of that. If you put a male in place asking the same questions you get the same responses except good lad/guy/man at the end.

The media in general love nothing more than forcing an apology. Presumably it makes them feel powerful and important being able to have some feckless politician or celebrity grovel at their command.

I hope he uses this stupid vitriol to go on and win the league. People have nothing better to do with their time. He should apologies to Jane and her alone away from the public if and only if he feels he needs to, not a public humiliation. As someone said on radio scotland this morning, this is turning out more a bigger issue than the Gaza situation, it's such a poor reflection on general society that we talk about stupid issues like this.

See when you actually see the video and not just the audio, I don’t even think it’s patronising either. I think it’s simply his way of ending the interview. As has been said a few times, if he had said good lad to end it if it was a male, which I’m sure he has before, nothing gets said. Why not?
