One problem I see with this story is that DD doesn't seem like a man who would tolerate someone in the club going against him. Which Peter and Mark Lawwell have seemingly done. I'd expect them to have been booted out. Rodgers could have complained to DD, since DD installed him in the first place.

Counter attacking literally means no pressing, so allowing the opposition to have the ball and then counter attacking when they lose it in advanced areas. The just wouldn't go into advanced areas, The only reason they get into these advanced areas in the first place is through, funnily enough, counter attacks.

I'd say there is about 60,000 reasons a week he came back here. And i'm not talking about the fans.

He's not involved in the day to day running of the club.

Turnbull was Motherwell's best player by a distance and Scales was one of Aberdeen's best performers last season. Taylor's here because he was performing so well for Killie. I get that you don't rate these players but their performances for other SPL clubs I think shows that they're not middle of the road SPL players - they're at least very good SPL players who have already proved that.

Money will be a factor, of course. He says he turned down a job in Saudi before coming here though, so I'm not sure how big a factor it will have been.

He's an incredibly wealthy man outside of football. And the payouts he has had from Leicester and Liverpool have totalled nearly £25m... £13m it was rumoured to pay him off at Leicester. So, yeah. Of course, it will have been a factor. You're not going to work for free, are you? I think Rodgers seen this as a way of bringing himself back into the club and it's fans. No one really knows though, I guess.

Raneri was sacked from Leicester for taking them from champions to fighting relegation the following season. There was a few managers between Raneri and Rodgers that couldn't turn the club around. Rodgers won Leicester's first ever FA cup and was challenging for champions league positions. Leicester winning the league was a fluke that will never happen again.

I'm not really sure you can call him a failure at Liverpool either. He was a slip away from winning the premier league with a team that hadn't won the premier league before.

Definitely think there's plenty of truth in this.

What iv never understood is given how Desmond continually over rules that fat * when it comes to appointing managers, he then allows him to run everything else.
If he doesn't trust his judgement when appointing a manager why does he give him free reign to * over the club.

I get that he doesn't really give a * about the club but his family do and surely there is at least 1 of his sons with a bit of ambition and don't agree with the current "let's just stay 1 step ahead of the huns but continually be an embarrassment in europe" strategy.

I don't even get the argument that he makes us strong on balance sheet bcoz the amount of money he's missed out on in terms of player trading profit and champions league and European progression completely dwarfs the money he has brought in.

He's held us back for 20 years yet * on the board laud him as some kind of saviour.

Agreed. Also, couldn't Rodgers complain to DD about the Lawwells? I'm sure he has DD-s phone or mail. Then again, the billionaire is definitely absent for most of the time. But Rodgers must resign out of spite, then. He's been screwed again, if this story is true.

Haha brilliant. Although that's far too quick a tempo for us.

He’ll be wanting and perhaps expecting the players that he couldn’t get in his first tenure. The likes of your Castagne’s, James Justin, John McGinn type quality

Maybe that’s what he was expecting when he joined and heard about the warchest

    The warchest/biscuit tin

I don’t think this really proves anything noteworthy. In my opinion, Ange is probably one of the best managers in the world and this will likely be demonstrated by the end of the EPL season.

Rodgers is a good manager but not on same level as Ange. I’m not sure if we will ever get a manager of his level again in the near future. However, I think Rodgers is about as elite as we can get at this juncture.

Irregardless, nobody can suggest that it is fair for someone to be expected to fight on all fronts including CL with the aforementioned players in the year of 2023. Mikey Johnstone trying to get us through the CL in 2023? Come on to * man

I don't think he's a bad manager but when things start spiralling the way the are now it's almost impossible to turn it around. Whatever he's doing simply is not working. He needs to go, but we need to make sure we have the correct replacement lined up before he does, no point going with Kennedy as interim again that just complicates things further.

Ok Leicester were an established premiership club with some decent players and over a few years he took them to relegation (got sacked before the inevitable). At Liverpool after him Klopp came in and showed what could be done there.

Can't see any quality players coming in January, Asian boys will be away. Players obviously not liking or adapting to his style. Thing is the other mob are * and we are going to hand the league to them.

Decisions can’t get any lower than thinking having Taylor and Bernabie on the pitch at the same time when losing at home is the answer. Bet there hasn’t been a worse change made since Lou Macari

Apart from the season Leicester won the league they were finishing with 41, 44 and 47 points. One season was early 50s. Rodgers got 65 points. He has a better win percentage than Raneri.

The Leicester players had proven under a few managers that they down tools to get managers sacked.

Klopp is a top manager. He has been backed with far more money than Rodgers got at Liverpool.
