If Klopp, Guardiola and Tuchel had applied for the job in the summer, Desmond would've hired Rodgers. As much as I want him out now, things won't change until that * Desmond and the rest if the board are chased.

It'll be Rodgers out and * Lennon back in otherwise.

He has literally said he signs off on all of them. Even if it's been recommendations from our scouting department, he's picked them for his football. He's coached them to play his game.

Glad the thread titles changed….. I was going to suggest it… although my alternative wasn’t as diplomatic as the new one.

No blame from me on the manager, I highly doubt he scouted any of our summer signings and I don't think Guardiola could get much better out of this depleted squad at the moment.

We've let some great players go, suffered some bad injuries and signed some absolute pish, hence why BR is now turning back to guys like Forrest to try get us out a hole.

I'd have pulled Taylor off, and played Bernabei and Palma on one side. No guarantees it'd work, mind.

He’s an egotistical stubborn * who simply will not change his strategy even when it’s clear for umpteen games that it’s not working…

One man could have simply adapted himself to the system the players were used to…

… instead he has to impose his (now quite tired) ways on a whole squad who simply struggle to adapt to it.

If he meant any kind of apology he would recognise his own failings and get it fkkkn fixed..

When you put it like that, the fact Bournemouth have a higher level of professional setup than us is tragic.

For me it’s almost entirely on him. Every manager has to deal with injuries. His tactics haven’t been good enough, shown by several domestic teams knowing exactly how to set up against us. Our chance creation is down massively too.

I don't know about "always"; but there are 2 good reasons to think that it's the problem this time:

    1) Rodgers is a good manager. Plenty of smart people think Ange is better than him (they might well be right, I haven't made up my mind about that) and quite a few think Rodgers is not the man to take us up a level in Europe or the manager he once was (I disagree with them, but it's not a daft opinion); but the idea that Rodgers has so lost his touch that he struggles to cope against SPL managers like McInnes or Naismith is just not a serious argument.

    2) Lots of people called this the day the window shut. We lost several key players (and have missed several more for large chunks of the season through injury) and haven't replaced them with the quality or the profiles that Rodgers wanted. Right down to not signing a LB, which everyone could see we needed desperately.

This * rinsed the board really. They went begging him back, he's said aye make me the best paid manager in your history and I want 3 years contract.

Chuck the league and get his payday by Christmas, back on his sabbatical with a big bag of cash.

    Rat.

He got us a couple results at that point but I think it's too easy to say aye he'd be fine again this time just because Montgomery played OK in a couple games under him.

I dunno if I'd say ecstatic.

Especially given Ange had to pretty much publicly come out and say he wasn't being backed when he first arrived. Something often forgotten.

I suppose the crux of what I'm saying is there are issues at the club that have been in existence for some time now. Rodgers or not.

Some people forget that. And probably will if Rodgers is replaced...until the next guy gets the same treatment.

I'm sure the board will wipe away their tears with the near £100m they've brought in.

I’m pretty sure he picked up full points in that run, and we had Turnbull up front at one point. Ben Summers and Abada up top, Ralston last minute winners at County.

Look at that team and results, I don’t expect that off of Rodgers even, I just want to see enough that I’m content he’s got a grip of the situation going forward. I can’t see that at all.

I think the board took his plea up- he couldn't get a job in an interesting place, and pleaded with our board. They accepted, on their terms. We, the fans, got screwed.

    Yeah that's fair.

I'm trying to look at things from a few different angles and give him some benefit of the doubt. He's not doing enough currently but I also think a manager without his history would be given more time in current circumstances.

If things started going badly at any point, as they currently have, he was always going to be under it more than most though.

His history and what I’ve seen of him is giving him more leeway just now for me, because it doesn’t make sense why he’s here and accepted the job under the circumstances he was furious about lasy time

He didn’t, we drew 0-0 with St Mirren on Boxing Day and we scored a 96th minute winner against Ross County the week before.
