His job is to improve players not take them backwards. Regardless of how average some of our players might be as individuals the team can be better than the sum of it's parts with tactics.

Stinking the place out against St Johnstone's, Killie's and Motherwell's of the world is 100% down to him.

Rodgers last 3 windows. Gutman, Toljan, Bayo, weah, Burke, Berkovic, mulumbu, schved, arzani, izaguirre, Morgan, nawrocki, lagerbielke, Palma, holm, Yang, tilio, Kwon, Phillips, bernardo

Any faith in giving bringing in players that will make a difference and add the mental/physical strength we are lacking?

When was the last time we had such atrocious form?

    Must be the Covid season?

Think it was the November/December period of that year too.

Brendan Rodgers tonight issued an apology to furious Celtic supporters after the2-0 loss to Hearts.

The Parkhead boss admitted his side were far below par in the Scottish Premiership defeat but revealed he wasn't overly surprised as standards slipped.

Supporters made their feelings clear with the team booed off the park after the defeat and chants of 'sack the board' and 'Lawwell get to f***' heard inside the stadium.

Rodgers said on BBC Sportsound: "Firstly, it's an apology to the support base. I don't think I've ever had to do that in all my time here, the first time or this time.

"Certainly, the performance today was nowhere near the level of what is expected as a Celtic player and a Celtic team.

"We lacked any desire in our defending, we lacked that drive when we had the ball and that intensity.

"And like I said, it felt like we could have played all night and not scored."

Quizzed on how shocked he was by the drop in standards after previously dishing out warnings over consistency to his squad, Rodgers replied: "Not, if I'm honest because it is about consistency and mentality and I've seen it within the team from time to time.

"I'm surprised at home we produced that level of performance but not so when I saw the first half at St Johnstone and Kilmarnock away and today."

Honestly? I think he came back purely because he's a fan of us.

Sounds funny saying it now when I'd have argued to * and back that wasn't the case in 2019, but no other reason fits. Even winning a treble with us would do nothing for his career, and he could get much better money elsewhere.

It's the only real reason that fits, he's a fan who wanted to make amends for how he left back in 2019. Unfortunately he's miles off it currently.

    Dunno what to say really.

He isn't blameless but also I wontnlet the * behind him hide as a result.

Club is rotten to the core tbh. There's guys there who ahould have been gone long ago.

Zero ambition or essence of the bigger picture.

He's only ever been steady when he's in front.

I can't see him turning this around either.

He's openly bashing the players now.

He probably did want to salvage his reputation with the fans, but I reckon he thought it would be a doddle up here again. Getting the fans back onside, cleaning up without much of a challenge in Scotland and getting paid £3m a year to do so must've seemed like a good deal.

Unfortunately he vastly underestimated the competition and overestimated his managerial ability and the competence of the board.

“A certain style….” Well he’s definitely not got that. Boring, unimaginative, one paced * all season with him at the helm.

He's the * manager why is he speaking like it's not his job to make sure that doesn't happen again ... and again. He's basically said i'm not surprised we were * as we've been * for weeks

Pretty simple, he has to go now. Not working, style of play isn’t suited to the league and I don’t think it gets any better with new players.

He doesn't give a *. I don't think he's a fan of us. He just thought this job would be an easy ride.

He's made a rod for his own back as well he backed the board at the AGM in saying he had final say on all the * we've signed and sat at his unveiling press conference praising the recruitment and all the work that had been done behind the scenes in the time he had been away now his football has once again been found out he's throwing out * about getting quality on an almost daily basis now.

He can't have it both ways

He's a total narcassist - nothing is ever his fault. Knew from day one it was a mistake bringing him back here.
To think we told his successor Maresca to sling his hook.... Some club ain't we?

Thought what he said was really poor in all honesty. Personally, I think its the words of a man who can't be bothered trying to turn it around. He is in a better position than any other manager in the league and doesn't appear to really give a *.

It was this sort of trait in his personality more than anything else that made me not want him back. Been trying (a bit) to get behind him, but pretty scunnered with his lack of effort/accountability.

Just get to the window without dropping more points and then get the players in he needs this time. We can still turn this around.

I agree with this mate. I think that’s why he came back, I just mean surely he knew what he was walking back in to?

He knows first hand what the people he is dealing with are like.

I have no doubt he has a genuine affinity with us. I argued this, even at the time he left us.

Mate, we're not taking 12 from 12 until the winter break.
