I'm not putting any on the players, there's not one out there that didn't give their best.

I'm also not saying Rodgers is blameless, Palma should have started, and even with the current team we shouldn't have lost to Kilmarnock or drew to St Johnstone.

Doesn't change the fact the board are the ones culpable for this mess. Rodgers CL results could be better, and I'd be willing to bet if he was backed this time round, they would be.

The last 10 years of results would indicate that's not the case surely?

Not arguing that teams don't do what you are saying, just that it has never worked. So it does work like that way would be the logical conclusion.

Rodgers had a hand in what happened in terms of transfer business over the summer too surely?

He asked for and prioritised high risk signings and they didn't come off is what I understood.

This is 100% the right balance for me. Players couldn’t be faulted for work-rate. Rodgers could be doing a bit better, but ultimately he’s been grossly under-resourced and under-supported, and that - especially in the CL - really is the driving factor.

We need to get the January window Bob on, get that extra bit of quality into the side bedded in for next season and then set the foundations early for the coming summer.

But I won’t get my hopes up, after all it’s back to wait and see since Ange has gone.

    I know, I know I’m being miserable.

You’re very unlikely to get quality in January.

Just look at our own January transfers. Historically awful. Hatate and Johnston’s seasons were over, only reason we got them. O’Riley is the only name you can pick out and we probably didn’t realise how good he’d be so soon.

January won’t be it unless something comes up. I’d be looking at precontracts and getting things moving for the summer. I’d be shocked if we did any business.

The braun fart has to do with instructions to try and keep possession instead of booting the ball when in danger.

We need at least 3/4 Jota level £6mil+ added to the starting line up to even come close to going up a level.

At the moment, we have one such signing in CCV. Kyogo is at that level so I guess count him as well, that makes 2.

Another 3 minimum, well scouted £6-8mil signings, total expense of £15-25 mil. A fantasy amount for the current board but completely achievable looking at our balance sheet.

A quality winger, LB and midfielder. Then we'd at least be competitive in Europe to some degree. Why is that £20mil worth more sitting in the bank? What do we have to do to get the board to change their M.O. ? How many more years are we gonna settle for this status quo?

What makes you think they would be better ? Even if we had spent 15 million extra that still doesn't compare with the resources he had at liverpool.
Imo, especially when it comes to CL, we need a manager who will play/set the team up etc to play to its strengths in these games, like WGS/Lenny achieved.

Hard to know exactly what's when on, but if has identified targets and the board haven't been able to deliver or come up with a credible plan b, c etc.. that's surely on the recruitment team?

If scouts have identified targets the board refused to sign, then the fans need to punish the board.

But we've always had one or more players with that little something special until now. This is the first season since Ronny's first season (and even then, he had Virgil and Denayer at the back, which as Devlin pointed out, is practically a cheat code in the SPL and he had Rogic in his second season) where I look at our team and don't see a single attacking player that makes me think, "No team in Scotland can live with this guy when he's in the mood." We've always had a least 1 (sometimes 2): Jota, Rogic, Dembele, Sinclair, Edouard...

Perhaps Palma will be that guy, we'll see.

I think Rodgers is doing just fine. Not sure why we didn’t strengthen as much as our financial position should allow. Maybe he couldn’t fully assess the team before the window ended or more likely wasn’t backed enough.

That's a fair point, just think it's really likely we still keep on winning the league so not sure it really is the defining thing.

I just reckon he's asked them to wait it out believing he can somehow influence a number of signings and it's backfired.

Are things so separated out in modern football that the manager has no influence? Particularly one like Rodgers.
