It's been said time and again that Brown was rushed back too soon from his injury, major reason for his form last season. Fully expect him to return to his previous form with a full pre season under his belt

I'm a big fan of Broony and aside from being rushed back from an injury I felt that he lost some of his spark under Ronny. Our team seemed to lose their natural aggression which I would argue affected their ability on the ball. Ronny's philosophy or whatever it was just didn't seem to fit with our players.

Its all got to do with what you are wanting from your team. Ive said it numerous times if you have Scott Brown in your team against a better team who have all the ball he is handy. Hence the reason he does well for Scotland.

However if your team is based on possesion, quick passing football then Brown is most definetely not your man for centre midfield.

    Browns pros:

    Determination
    Leadership
    Aggression (not as much)
    Drive
    Attitude

    Browns cons:
    Doesnt score
    Doesnt assists
    Poor passer of the ball
    Poor striker of the ball
    Poor creativity
    Zero technique

So for me, footballing wise I dont like Brown. If Rodgers is setting up a footballing side. He is in for a shock when he sees Browns passing ability, vision and lack of awareness.

PS: Johansen is my picture from last season when he won player of the year. I havent come round to changing it.

To be fair, you do make a few decent points even though that comment before has had you slated a bit:smiley-laughing002:. I'd probably agree with you on his attributes listed there.

Regardless, he will be in the side to begin with. Whether or not Rodgers then takes him out of it due to him not fitting in etc or whatever then that will be his decision.

I'm happy to have Brown in as long as he is fit.

Brown's a liability. Mick summed it up pretty well.

    Mick has been harsh.

He has way more positive attributes than you suggest, he's a pretty good tackler, he's strong, he break up play well, capable of dominating games. He also has a good burst of pace when fit. He doesn't score many, or set up loads, but that isn't what he's there for. I think his passing could be better for a central midfielder, but he's generally pretty safe with the ball.

He's a leader, opposition teams hate him. He'll be back next season, I'm pretty confident of that.

I pretty much agree with that and always have.

Thats obviously not to say he never plays well or anything, but for me he hasnt developed as a player. Leader yes, player no.

I remember some thread about him regarding his value, or cost, and for me there has rarely been a point in his career when he has played well enough that if we had sold him, we would have made a profit on what we paid. (£4m was it?)

I said it in another thread, but i can see him on the bench for big chunks of next season.

Off topic but why doesn't Celtic make a doc series like Liverpool did? They're making them in different leagues and sports around the world, seems like something Celtic should do for extra $$$. Would be great to see what Rodgers is doing behind the scenes at Celtic.

The Skipper will be the first name on the team sheet just like he is with EVERY manager so long he is fully fit. He's a winner and a fine midfielder. People on this forum have always preferred to remember his poorer displays and that will never change.

Looking forward to seeing the new shape of the side next season.

If Rodgers does look to play fast flowing attacking football, then it doesn't suit either Brown or Bitton in my opinion. You seen the difference when both were out the team on the last day of the season. We were able to move the ball far quicker with the likes of McGregor and Johansen in the middle of the park. That's not saying I would want to go with both of them in the middle, but it was very clear we move the ball quicker compared to when Brown and Bitton are in the team.

I agree, Biton I think is capable of it but he takes about 20 touches before playing the ball :31:

Aye, fast flowing football probably suits Bitton more than Brown, but as you say, he has to start shifting it quicker. He is technically sound enough to suit the style, but he wants to take too many touches.
