If Brown is being relied on as the guy that controls and dictates the play we are *.

He is tailor made for one of the front 2 in the 3, as is Johansen.

Brown is ideal for a team who doesnt have the ball hence the reason he is good for Scotland but when he actually has to do something with the ball he is useless.

Brown will never be the playmaker, Bitton is obviously the guy to do that role. Brown couldnt pass water half the time ffs.

Brown needs to prove himself. Injured or not, he was a yard off the pace last season, what would usually be a meaty tackle ended up being a foul. A fully fit Brown needs to earn his place. But then that goes for the whole team.

Looking forward to seeing how Brendan plays it

Brown and Johansen of 2 years ago would be good options for the two CM's. As of right now, that's a tough one.

Rodgers has come out in his support, so we know Brown will take one of the three. For me, Mcgregor is the next player in the fold. His consistency come the end of the season showcased his attacking ability along with his teamwork.

That leaves one place for Bitton or Rogic. If it's Bitton, the more obvious DM, I still feel he needs to up his tempo and improve his positioning/anticipation. Could also maybe see Rogic take the inside left position, but inside a bit more sort of like Coutinho did with liverpool. Could work with Tierney's energy. Getting into square-peg-round-hole territory.

Other option is drop Bitton and move Broony to DM - but change the role from playmaker to ball winner - more like the role Buscets plays for Barca - break up the play and square ball to the nearest man. Then Rogic could play as the slightly more advanced of the two CMs. With Mulgrew as one of the two CB's we'd at least still have the long-pass from the back.

Neither scenario is perfect. In a perfect world, Broony and Bitton would merge into an aggressive, defensively proficient deep playmaker, but that's a £20m+ player right there!

Exactly. Massive gamble to go into the CL qualifiers reliant on those 2 and Biton to do the business. Read earlier that Stefan hasn't signed a new contract yet and left it up to his agent. If the right money came then I wouldn't be against any/all 3 of them leaving.

that would also be very risky though, to bed in a whole new midfield for our most important games. Tricky situation for Rodgers, CM is definitely our most * up position, so many players and options but no real dead cert to start.

True. It's unlikely all 3 will go though but I can see Stefan going and possibly Biton if they money is tempting enough.

I'm just sceptical of where Brown would play in Rodgers' favoured system of a sitting DM with box-to-box types either side. As said above he doesn't fit the sitting role, ideally we'd have someone with better passing in there dictating play.

As for the 2 box-to-box positions available he doesn't score enough goals or have the ability/vision to play a killer pass in my opinion so isn't ideal for that position either.

Personally I think Browns best position / role is just in front of the defence, breaking up the play and just releasing the ball forward or wide. Not sure of that'll fit into Rodgers plans tho.

I don't think Scott Brown is good enough to play in a typial Brendan Rodgers team. Rodgers like his teams to be able to play passing 1 touch football, one of Scott Brown's worst attribute is his passing in my opinion.
