He may well bring in some cheap players in, especially Scottish ones to make up the numbers, and also probably arranged Arzarni and Roberts, but with players like McKenna who they offered £3.5m then I'm sure Brendan had a lot of input in that. When he made that comment it felt like he was trying to wash any blame from himself.

I agree with this, he could have forced the move earlier if he had wanted and basically had Hibs accept an offer. He didn't want to be in the SPL and sees Villa as a chance to get in the Premiership.

McGinn chose Aston Villa because he is ambitious, had already developed a reputation in Scotland and had entered a comfort zone (despite being completely anonymous in a number of matches) - all his own words.

We handled the situation poorly, but people who think that he would be here if we had met Hibernian’s exorbitant evaluation (which was reportedly north of £4m when we were the only club interested in him) earlier are not listening to the words coming out of his mouth. He had no intention of signing for Celtic while a move to the land of milk and honey was still on the cards.

No Celtic supporter I know would turn down the chance to play for Celtic; he did, so * him.

 

I don't really want to get into the whole thing again but you can't apply 'fan logic' to the modern game something I won't do again..

 

We * Hibs about for ages and they accepted a bid from Villa but nothing to suggest they accepted the last bid we made.

And my point still stands if he was that desperate to play for us he would be here, last minute bid or not. Let me ask you would you have just paid what Petrie was asking for off the bat? Or the £10 million Aberdeen want. Of course we are all * off and the defence needs sorted, but let’s get a bit of perspective into the fees clubs are asking for some players.

 

Some managers just have glaring weaknesses when it comes to certain positions, O’Neill couldn’t find a good goalkeeper to save himself.

 

McKenna can't even pass all that well- so what did Brendan see in him, I have no idea.

when oneill brought in rab Douglas he was a massive improvement on gould and kerr,kharine was a decent back up and Magnus hedman was a fine goal keeper though I think he lost the plot when he came here Marshall did alright also

 

Magnus Hedman imo was one of the best goalies in the EPL 1998- 2002 for me it was a massive bonus when he signed but he just * up constantly!

 

Marshall aside they were all poor goalkeepers for us imo, cost us in big games constantly while they were here and the fact that Douglas and Hedman were still getting into the team in MON's last season showed that picking a first choice gk wasn't his strong point.

 

How? If Hibs have agreed a deal with another team after we had messed them and him about most of the window?

No ducking about from Villa they offered the asking price and got him down south pronto medical done wages offered showed that they really did want him nd he signed.

What did Celtic do, make low offers made it public and tried to get him in the cheap. The price was 2.75 million we should have paid it, but no we * them about and left it too late to make a bid.

Villa has the deal done and dusted and we made an offer when the deal was done to say look we made the same offer.......

We left it far too late does not matter if he is a fan or not we dropped the ball and no blame should be placed into McGinn. The blame lies solely with Lawwell and the board.

Also where have I said we should pay 10 million for a lad who is worth 750-1 million max? Centre half wise he is better than Hendry but not the quality we need. So what’s your point caller? Irrelevant as *

 

We offered 2.5. They waited until 1 offer came in more than us. We was quoted £4m. If he wanted to be here he would.

 

So Aston Villa paid Hibs the £3.5 million we were quoted did they? You know about as much as the rest of us know over the McGinn deal. And as I said if John McGinn wanted to be at Celtic he would be, last minute deal or not.

 

At the end of the day we as fans all would love to play for Celtic and I bet most Celtic minded players would too , but remember this is a job to them same as we have our jobs but I bet if someone offered you treble your wages for doing the exact same job most would jump to sign .
Also players are human and we all need to feel good and wanted , did Celtic want McGinn enough this whole episode smacks of when Jackie Mac signed for wolves he never wanted to leave but Celtic didn't want him enough till it was too late .
Our manager is top class , stadium top class , fans top class .... our board are filling their own pockets and are letting the scum catch up. Lawell's silence is deafening when things are all rosy he's all over the papers with his big grin .

 

Hes starting to look like a * mug if im honest.

Imagine having to go in front of cameras and declare that dedrick * boyata has knocked back TWO european starting games...AFTER you claim hes just been listening to bad advice and the players still like him and blah blah.

I honestly thought we were trying to keep his value up with these apologetics but were looking like * sevco at this point.
