Fair comment. Many of his signings haven't worked out and we did spend £2.7 million on centre backs in January and look no more solid at the back.

That said, I think Rodgers would be the first to accept the likes of Gamboa, De Vries, Compper, Hayes etc. have been a waste of money. With our budget restraints and strategy of finding rough gems to polish there will always be some that fail to make it. For every Wanyama or Van Dijk that Lennon found he also found a Bangura or Balde.

Rodgers has shown more than enough in his 2 seasons here that he deserves a decent transfer budget. Maybe I was naive but I genuinely thought this summer would be different and they'd be pro-active about things to keep the guy happy and ensure we had a good chance of Champions League qualification.

It's been as clear as day that we need a new right back for at least 6 months, yet here we are 6 weeks into the transfer window with our Champions League hopes hanging in the balance down to AEK exploiting that area on Wednesday.

It's 4 weeks since we had that RB on trial that had been out the game for 2 years and decided against signing him. Surely once that decision is taken you move down the list to the next option rather than close your eyes, cross your fingers and hope Lustig doesn't get found out again?

We're constantly being fed good news stories about how we're getting record shirt sponsorship deals, light systems, building hotels...all while stagnating on the park. I think we've reached a tipping point where supporters will no longer silently accept inaction from the board that subsequently lead to failure on the park. There has to be a level of accountability.

We all make mistakes in life and in our jobs but it's important to learn from them. Lawwell has seen before how the pendulum swung when he refused to invest in a position of strength.

There's a balance to be struck between strengthening the playing squad and balancing the books and I don't think we're finding it right now.

I am not defender of Lee Congerton either, and I think Rodgers has been disappointing regarding the defence, but if he is coming out in public to complain of not getting players signed, maybe him or they actually suggested good CBs but were shot down immediately and had to settle with Jack Hendry? I agree the above scenario is unlikely but we cannot excuse the board by pointing at Rodgers either.

Brendan is very professional, has been very respectful of the board, even too much in my opinion, and would never come out with public criticism unless things are REALLY serious, so there is good reason for hysteria. He has more patience and responsability than us, and even he's had enough.

I support BR in speaking out absolutely, it’s the right thing to do and will have no doubt met with DD too.. Jan window was complacent and it’s that window that’s * us for this CL campaign.. no excuse for that..

Having said that, with three weeks left, there is still ample time to get decent players in.. no point in condemning and overacting until the widow is closed and our European fate is sealed.

I am totally frustrated, as much as anyone but this is not the time for overacting, at least not yet..

You'd ban someone from running our club because of the political party he supports? People who run businesses well are often Conservatives, this is the reason Labour don't have any big business backers.

Brendan knows too well that the crowd from the other side of Glasgow our a stronger team this year with a big name manager. This is not just about European football. BR wants to make sure that we don't lose our grip on the domestic scene as well. He wants to keep winning trebles. He feels he has taken this current squad as far as he can and that they need a couple of top recruitment's in to keep that momentum going. This is a serious situation with our manager. He will not stay around if not supported by the board.

Our club moto has always been "A club open to all, apart from Tories", we should stick to those principles.

In all seriousness the Tories are *

That's why I think there is added frustration.

The Klan have brought in an u-18's coach and backed him with the limited resources they have.

Meanwhile we have a double treble winning boss whose net spend is 0.

Im disappoibted tgat we dragged our heels on McGinn and it soubds thatt BR was expecting him to be signed up.The next three weeks are important,as the supporters want quality signings as well as the manager. The Board need to take this on board....momentum,passion and progress are fundamental experiences for Celtic supporters, while the board need to be financially prudent for all our sakes, surely they need to invest in this team and not sit on their laurels not just for Europe but importantly for the domestic scene. The income generated by Brendan AND the feel good factor must not be taken for granted.Surely his appointment must have exceeded the Boards expectations. As big Jock said football is nothing without supporters.......Support the manager and keep the feelgood factor going...if not....Season ticket holders will walk!!
    Come on,get the finger out!!!

That will definitely be annoying him. No question..

He'll of had the hump this slipping Scouse * has even had the audacity to come up and challenge him..

For the board no to back him (enough so far) as he'll want to slap the * out of these hun *...is pathetic..

I still think we'll clean up the domestic scene, but to keep embarrassing them game after game, whilst competing in Europe...will be harder..

Brendan wants to make slippy and all those who chose to come with him as a slap in the face to him.....go home with their tails between their legs..

It's a disgrace the board have been this stingy until now..

    Missed the Valencia right back
Knocked back off a Liverpool loan
Beaten at the last hurdle for McGinn

    Pretty embarrassing so far..

I’m sorry but I would tend to agree with him. I don’t want any Tory * at our board level. Goes against everything we are as a club and support. A club open to all is a misleading tag of ours because for me if your not emphatic with the working classes, are in support of conspirators for undercover murder by SAS and Mi5 in N.Ireland and a party that is not interested in anywhere north of Watford. Get them to *. Send them to Chelsea or Fulham, be close to their offices. The people of Grenfell and Hillsborough families, * Sunday.
Tory * had their hands dirty in the lot of this. * them.

I have a feeling the development team, management, scouts and board are happier spending more or a greater proportion of funds on middle to front positions.

Why? Greater returns, those positions are more complex to teach technique and skill. Buying there makes more sense.

Defence maybe seen as an easier position to develop and mould in to. Look at KT, straight from unders, Ajer is a convertion from striker to mid to defender. Hendry is clearly a project. Simunovic being the exception as I’m sure we spent a touch more than usual on him.

6-8 million on a CB or RB is not going to happen but to move up a level, maybe investing there would have been a better option that buying Odsonne.

Fair play to Brendan coming out and saying that. The man has made history with us and has made us totally dominant domestically with some tremendous displays of attacking football. I'm glad he's came out and publicly voiced his feelings. Hopefully it lights a fire up the boards * and they back him and the fans/club. If they turn on BR then I will be gutted and honestly so * off with them. I'll always be Celtic but if they go against Brendan with regards to bettering this club and helping it to progress then it will be a real showing of how our club I should run and can be branded a shambles. Fair is fair. Hopefully they will see that and play their part. HAIL HAIL ❤️

I wonder how much of the uneasy relationship between the board and Brendan was down to us not selling KT or even dembele this summer.

Maybe both felt that one off that pair might have been moved on and freeing up a sizeable transfer pot.

The board might have bulked at Brendan's transfer targets because they didn't bring the capital in that may have been expecting. I'm sure it's possible Brendan was getting all the buying signals from the board to move for 3 or 4 players of quality and spend potentially 20m on them before the window opened.

Because we didn't cash in on one off our golden chips the board are playing hard ball, with Brendan calling them out.

It is more than just McGinn saga that Brendan is releasing steam from.

In some ways I feel Brendan thinks he has the right players at the back but they are not progressing as he thought they would. This could be the stumbling block why no amounts of money have been spent on the defence, the board saying we have a defence, we clearly need it. Was it Brendans descision to bring back Izzy ?I have said before we need 2 CB's and a RB at the same standard as the rest of the team. If no quality players come in before the transfer window shuts there can only be 2 outcomes, either Desmond steps in and tells Lawell to walk for not releasing money or Brendan walks. If Brendan is as * off as some people are saying this can only have a negative affect on the team, the players will be feeling it too, results will suffer. If the board are sticking to their plan of buying young, developing and selling then it is very flawed. One of the reasons players like Moussa, Eddy, Nchamp and Paddy come to us is because of Brendan and his ability to develop young players. The board are playing a very dangerous game with Brendan. For me, if he doesn't get that backing before the window shuts, the first opportunity he gets to go to EPL he will be off. And as history shows, it wont be long before the first manager in the EPL is sacked making a position available.
