We could buy eddy and spend another 10-12 million on 3 other quality players and still wouldnt be breaking the bank.

It's also much more sensible than spending 1 - 2 million on a variety of mediocre buys over the course of a couple of seasons. Think of how much has been wasted on Gamboa, Balde, Puki, Cifti, Bangura et al. That must be at least 10m? 10m * pished down the toilet.

Why waste money on * like that when you could just buy two decent players for 5m each?

What if those 2 big buys end up * though.

Vvd was 1.5m * the price tag.

VVD's and Wanyama's are possible and out there but they dont come around all the time , sometimes you have to push the boat out to 4-6m like we did with Ntcham to get a quality player especially a young player.

Agreed. It is a big outlay in 1 window historically but when you factor in the Virgil money along with how healthy we are financially, as well as the many assets we have in the side......it's time to add some real quality at the back and creatively..

Just say for talking sake that Moussa stays. We could probably make close to 15 mill without punting him with say Armstrong, Bitton, Simunovic, Allan, Christie, Hayes and Sviatchenko all going and not really affecting the first team much. Some decent wages freed up as well..

If we can get edouard for similar to Ntcham it's a no brainer for a start to the window.
already settled , great attributes , proved to be an important member of the squad with his best days ahead of him.

That's where we have to try and be quicker off the mark then. Hard as it is, it drastically saves money..

He went to City in 2015 at 19. Was at Le Havre before but from what I can see, didn't play first team for them but was in all the French unders side's..

Get the scout's travelling away with all the French youth side's :fear:

Obviously if we have scouted a player, he looks good and his fee is low, that's great.

Wanyama, Van Dijk, Dembele. That's great business. I wish all our transfers were like that.

But when you're in a position of strength, you've got to push the boat out a bit more. Sometime you will have to pay a bit more to get some greater quality and when that situation arises we should be meeting that challenge. It's not like we're going to plunge ourselves into unmanageable debt, we know what our limits are, but ffs we should at least test them.

For instance, last summer, I would happily have paid 8m for Paddy Roberts and I'd still pay that today despite the injuries because his ability is not something that is easily acquired at the lower end of the market. We should be aiming as high as is possible. We don't need to take risks by scrounging at the bottom and hope we uncover a few diamonds in the rough. We should be able to buy the ready-made thing.

Then we lose trust in Rodgers judgement. As it is, I’d rathe he’d have more money to spend, as better olayers generally cost more.

That doesn’t mean don’t look for bargains, that’s just equipping him with the means to inprove.

5.5m say for Edouard, sell most of the deadwood= say 8-10m back into our funds. Buy a CB for say 4.5m, RB for 2.5-3m and a winger 3-5m and cover at lb 1-2m, that would be a perfect window. If it panned out like that were only spending say 6m and also some wages would be freed from players released. If we added that depth to the squad we already have it should be guaranteed cl football and a guaranteed 30m

If we paid for all of those at highest amounts mentioned then that would be £20m. I would say if Celtic sold some players and got £8-10m then I think the club would have done okay as for the last 2 seasons combined the club have only sold players probably totalling £5m and spent £16-20m.
Who would you sell? Myself I would sell Armstrong, Jozo, Sviatchenko, and Gamboa. You could probably get £8-10m for those 4 combined. I also think Dembele will go and if for a good amount why not.

£4m for Jozo, you think? And English club may be stupid enough. However I was thinking around £2m and with Sviatchenko with only a year left £1-2m. Gamboa depends heavily on World Cup, £500,000 pre, if he plays and plays well then up to £2m.

Sorry, I thought he signed a 3.5 year deal. Just checked and Jozo 3 years (I can't believe he got an extension).
