Hopefully this is the night where we can pull of a surprise win in europe for the second time that he has been here, only thing I'm dreading is the way we played in our last European match. Yes it was different circumstances but he talks about playing the 'celtic way' then proceeds to play defensively with a team that can't defend for * against a team we beat 3-0 away from home, bit cliché but our best form of defence is attack. Praying that we take the game to them, heart says 2-1 head says 2-2. Friend managed to get his tickets last night without any hassle, anyone know if it's a sell-out now?

We are, but our home record in Europe has been less than inspiring the last few years. Lost to Maribor, Anderlecht, BMG, Molde, Red Bull Salzburg. Drew against Rosenborg this season. Obviously pumped off PSG as well.

The atmosphere is as good as ever but there's absolutely no doubt that the fortress aspect has been lost.

 

It was the performances and results at home under Deila that did the damage:

Celtic 0-1 Maribor
Celtic 1-3 Red Bull Salzburg
Celtic 3-2 Malmö
Celtic 2-2 Fenerbahçe
Celtic 1-2 Molde
Celtic 1-2 Ajax

I myself remembering thinking ‘I have seen this movie before’ when we conceded in most of those games; that anxiety is bound to transfer to players.

The same is true under Rodgers: we expect to take a hammering when we play the élite clubs in European competition now - the belief is gone. We need to break that cycle. A scalp tonight would go some way to redressing that.

Like you said though, tonight is a chance to get that fear factor back.

 

In fact, I think that we are still suffering from the Legia Warszawa games. That debacle was a hammer blow to our credibility as a - albeit small - European force. You only have to look at comments from opposition clubs to see how far we had fallen in stature in a relatively short space of time.

Yes rodgers is a miles better manager. No way would i swap him for lennon, i was ranting while tired I detest him basically saying we have no hope. Yes say its a tough task, but in the end its 11 v 11 for 90 mins. Anything can happen. Bring them * on.

We are a young squad i still think that is lost on some people..if we have ajer and hendry at the back tonight we are essentially bringing a water pistol to a gunfight..still it can be done if we dont give away any daft mistakes and make it easy for them.

 

They have a class centre back great striker and decent winger in paredas they are not psg so I wouldn't really call it bringing a water pistol to a gun fight
