Let’s get one thing straight this is Brendan * Rodgers we are talking about a guy who is on £2.5m per season who has had various offers to go to the epl since he came here in May 2016! Our board might be tory * but they ain’t daft *, what Brendan wants Brendan gets, back room staff, head of recruitment, desso pitch, players if he says he is happy he is happy cause the board know the minute he isn’t he won’t be short of offers! Window closes opens in 149 days then we can do this * again and let’s now focus our energy on roaring the bhoys onto a double treble!

    Aye true.

Mental people can watch that Rodgers presser and try convince themselves he’s lying and he’s really unhappy instead of just admitting they’re wrong and he’s delighted with our business.

He isnt an idiot, quite the opposite. He is smart enough to play the game. Why sign players then at the end of a transfer window come out and say he is disappointed with the quality of signings?

Managers tell little fibs to the media every day. They wouldn't be doing their jobs properly if they always told the truth

Compper, Morgan, Hendry and Musond have all spoke about the conversations they’ve had with Brendan before signing and how he feels they could develop how he’ll use them.

Doesn’t sound like a manager who signed players for the sake of it.

he's already a legend for doing an invincible treble , but if we go back to back here then it's never been done..and then focus would be on "10" wich is Immortality.

You mean like he did last January? Quite clearly wasn’t happy.

There’s pretending your happy then there’s personally praising the staff responsible for transfers to the media. He’s literally never done that before. There always seems to be positions we fail to fill but you can’t say that now.

Of course you can question the players he brought in, and the money spent. But if he personally wanted Hendry, Musonda and Compper are the board going to sign someone else just to make up the numbers? Naw. The money will be spent when it needs to be. Like when we need to replace Moussa Dembele and Patrick Roberts in the summer. That’s when we’ll break our transfer record, not in January when we are 11 points clear in the league.

    * imagine living through these times :100: doing all that and getting the 10 would be as good as winning the CL for me :celt_2:

What the * are you slabbering about? :56::56::56::56:

The guy is quite clearly happy, and anyone who suggests otherwise is just being a pedant, or has some sort of deviant agenda.

weve spent 10-12 million this season and it is generally been decent moves, their was never too much of an indication that we were going to spend much this window, and im glad we didn't just because we can, as much as i want us to break our transfer record as its been not far off 20 years now, id rather we wait till the right deal comes along. I think some people forget that money will be set aside if man city want to sell roberts and we would probably be willing to spend £8 million on him, and if he impresses we will spend something like £7 million on edouard. Both these deals will be regardless of dembele leaving I imagine. thats £15 million in reserve ready to spent

How do you know he didn’t target higher quality but couldn’t get them in for reasons outwith his and the boards hands?

So what he got is genuinely what he could get and asked for.

BRENDAN Rodgers has declared his delight with Celtic’s business in the transfer window and thanked the board and his recruitment team for securing the targets he wanted.

The Hoops brought their number of signings in January to five after they completed a deadline-day double swoop from Dundee, with the acquisitions of Scott Bain and Jack Hendry.

German internationalist, Mavin Compper, Belgium Under-21 internatioanlist, Charly Musonda, and St Mirren playmaker, Lewis Morgan were the other players to arrive in Paradise.

No fewer than 10 players headed in the other direction during a busy month for the Bhoys as the manager shaped his squad for the rest of the season and beyond.

And speaking to the media, the Hoops boss paid particular tribute to Dermot Desmond, Peter Lawwell and the rest of the Celtic board

He said: “It’s a day (deadline day) that’s clearly very busy. When you have that level of activity going on it’s of course quite complex.

“Today I have to say a big thank you to Dermot, Peter and the board at Celtic. January was going to be an important month for us and everything I asked for I was able to get.

“In terms of experience, quality and players we think we can develop, they delivered everything I wanted so it’s a great credit to them and our recruitment team.”

The Irishman was thrilled to have won the race for Hendry’s signature following the defender’s impressive performances for the Dens Park outfit since his move there in the summer. And he insisted that the 22-year-old had the attributes to be a future Scotland internationalist.

The Hoops boss said: “I’ve got no question about that. We brought him here because I think he can play Champions League football, and if you can play Champions League football then that’s a big step to move into international football.

“He comes into an environment here where there is a real winning mentality and a real emphasis on becoming better. You have to come here with no ego and be able to improve, develop and take on the responsibilities of being a Celtic player."

He continued: “I think he’s got huge potential. He’s someone I wasn’t aware of at all until he played against us. I also give credit to Dundee. How Neil (McCann) has got them playing is also a great sign for him and for other players that need to go and develop if they’re not playing.

“If he’s not playing football he might be seen as another centre-half. At 22 years of age, he’s 6’ 3’’, super-quick and a good one-v-one defender. While there are lots of areas in the game we think he can improve in, I think his potential is huge. That’s what I said to the board when I first saw him play – this is a player I think can be a big player.

“When you come to Celtic you have to deal with expectation and pressure, and if he can deal with all those things then you’ve got a Scottish centre-half who has all the attributes and profile of a top-class footballer.

“He’s young both in terms of the number of games and his age. But he’s had enough games to show he’s got that huge potential. Hopefully if he finds that mentality and can develop that here, I think he can be a fantastic player.”

With Craig Gordon sidelined for 14 weeks following his injury against Hibernian last weekend, it left only one experienced goalkeeper in the squad in the form of Dorus de Vries.

That prompted the club to move for Bain, who had only joined Hibs on loan from Dundee weeks earlier, to provide competition between the sticks.

The 26-year-old has already been named in two Scotland squads and, like Hendry, the manager believes he can push his way into the international fold at Celtic.

“It was clear that we needed to bring in another keeper,” he said. “We had a number of options that we could bring in and could be an understudy to Dorus. Dorus has been a really exceptional loyal number two and it’s his chance to come in and settle in.

"There’s competition right through the squad. It would have been negligent of us not to bring in a young goalkeeper. For Dorus and Scott to come in, they’ll work off each other. Dorus has the shirt but Scott will provide good competition for him.”

“It’s good to have someone with the type of profile who understands how we play. I didn’t know Scott before coming up here but watching him at Dundee, he’s a very capable goalkeeper, and I suspect with Craig out in terms of international status, it could be something that Scotland look to him also.

“He understands the line of pass. He contributes in the build up phase of the game, he’s comfortable with that and make saves. I spoke to both boys they are absolutely delighted to be here."

Rodgers has been after a ball playing CB since Rivaldo fell through. Someone young for us to develop. If anything Hendry could be seen as an upgrade considering we’ve payed nearly double the fee on him, and is playing regular minutes in a better league.

By the looks of it, Compper was chosen amongst a list of players like Tosic and Subotic. I probably would have rather brought one of them in but that’s just splitting hairs and I’m happy with the player we’ve gotten. Under Ronny or Lennon we’d have likely shat it and went for some diddy like Russel Martin.

We’ve been after Musonda for at least a full year, working on a permanent deal before Chelsea offered him a new contract. An 18 month loan for him is excellent business so it’s safe to say Rodgers got his man.

Again Morgan has obviously caught his eye and wasn’t brought in to make up the numbers or to make up for a failed transfer. Another young talent who could be seen as a fantastic deal if he makes it.

Bain was last minute understandably. For us to manage a deal with Dundee that involved a 3 way loan swap with Hibs hasn’t gotten the praise it deserves, considering the lad is a free agent in the summer and will be ours if we want him.

We’ve worked hard for Rodgers this window, 5 players is 5 players and not one of them were brought in out of failure to deliver his top targets.

I agree... Basically the market is crap... Overpriced... Why pay through the nose.. Chelsea have panicked bought.. Giroud not a proven goalscorer.. Big gamble cos its £100m for a half decent player atm . Shaw, martial etc.. Shocking price tags.. We bought well.. 3 words Tore Andre flop.. Biscuit tin wins

Rodgers has signed Marvin Compper, Jack Hendry and Lewis Morgan, who was loaned back to St Mirren for the remainder of the season, during the January transfer window.

He also brought in back-up goalkeeper Scott Bain from Dundee and Charly Musonda from Chelsea on loan until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

The Northern Irishman admitted the Celtic squad had been lifted by the new arrivals, not least Belgian playmaker Musonda, in training.

“There’s been a different feel the last couple of days,” he said. “The real slog of games over the course of the December period but I think now you feel that energy.

“You sense when you bring in good players you get the lift. Charly obviously you sense the changing room and everything about training, obviously the lift it gave the supporters when he comes on. It’s really vibrant.”
