Nonsense. Barca of 2009-2012 were one the the greatest sides ever to play football. They were one of the most complete footballing units ever assembled.

This PSG team do their best to imitate that Barca side, but they're still a thousand miles away from even being mentioned in the same breath as Barca in that sense.

Impossible to compare based on our results against them anyway. Our win v Barca in 2012 was one of our greatest results in decades. We didn't bother turning up against PSG in either of our matches against them.

Barca nowadays aren't even close to that Barca side of 5 years ago, and I'd still fancy their chances against this PSG team.

Barca in 2012-13 were a shadow of the great Pep team of 10-11.

Pep's Barca was easily the best side I've ever seen and doubt I'll see anything even close to it again.

There is no comparison with Rodgers, Strachan and Lennon. This is by far the toughest group to progress to the last 16 from ever. 3 of the games have been extremely embarrassing however, so we need to hope he learns from these mistakes. The Bayern home match we were excellent. Positives and negatives.

Agreed. That Barcelona team was an unbelievable cohesive unit, all world class and all knew each other inside out. An unbelievable attacking force and maybe the greatest in football. This PSG team are unreal, but that Barcelona team were probably still even better.

    Thats not true.
He must take accountability for the tactics he deployed. I believe his limitation will ultimitely be his stubbornness to change from his philosophy of playing.

Even last season Pep had his struggles with city and he had to spend countless millions on defenders to now see this way of playing come to fruition. We dont have the luxury of blanque cheques to write.

As things stand, managers before BR have achieved better in the CL with Celtic. This should be the aim.
Not even SAF at man utd would have taken on this PSG team and played so openly. We showed against Bayern we
    can compete.
I dont expect us to go and win against PSG on paris or in Munich against Bayern, but i would expect us to compete at the very least.

Malmo, maribor and legia all beat us and, at that time, spent far less than us.

Mourinhos Porto also proved that ther can be instances that prove the contrary.

Think he needs to mix it up a bit against top teams,if they are at their best and so are wee,we will always get beat

Aye true mate.. how could I forget him, his experience was vital early in BRs tenure..

Makes it even more strange he didn't try and fill that void, with another leader or potential leader..

That was always going to be a short term solution. Defensively we were a shambles at the start of last season (and you could argue in terms of the amount of fit defenders then we still are) and had to play Efe Ambrose and Eoghan O'Connell in Champions League qualifiers. We needed a leader and someone who could teach the young kids we have here some important notes.

The chances of us having to rely on Kolo Toure in the twilight of his career at this stage in the game were pretty low.

Jozo and Boyata are a great pairing against teams on our level. It's against the big teams like your PSGs and Bayerns where they've been found wanting. I don't know if BR focuses more on the attacking side of coaching rather than defending, but when it comes to these games he should be drilling them all day as to what to do when they've not got the ball.

Brendan Rodgers and the team do not seem to be "learning" very much from these embarrassing defeats, I wish he wouldn't be so naive and change his mindset. Hopefully we get a good result in the final game and show what we can do in the Europa League.

I know that, I was just pointing out that Rodgers did infact make one signing in that area in his time here.

The fact that he retired at the end of last season should have made it even more important that we strengthened in defence. It was incredibly * and probably unacceptable that we didnt.

    * clear as day mistake from Rogers not to sign a couple of quality centre backs, yes we would still have got beat last night but not by 7 goals. Sorry but the sun does not shine oot of Rodgers * hes completely * up with the defence. Bitton as a CB? Lustig moved out of position? Ralstons first start against psg at home?.....absolute * up, not a * hope in * of at least keeping it respectable.

Sort it oot Brendan for fucksake. Midfield/attack is good, Central defence is * horrendous.

Agreed, the defence is shocking we got Tierney and that's it. Even being in the position to rely on Bitton at CB in the champions league is a complete shambles. We went into the transfer window with one fit CB, and ended up with * Johnny Hayes as our last signing. Rodgers in Europe always falls back on the excuse of the financial gap and fair enough but it doesn't mean you should start Ralston against Neymar ffs. Brendan is obviously the best manager we have had since Martin O'Neill, but we are under-performing in Europe in terms of the scorelines- getting beat at home by Monchengladbach last year, having 1 shot on target at home against an off form 9th placed german side was shocking. We haven't won at home in European Competition for 3 years since Astra in the Europa League under the great Deila era.

That is true but it doesnt excuse suffering one of our biggest losses in our history and one of the biggest in the champions league. Last night could easily have been 10 1 if PSG didnt stop playing for most of the second half.

It is only fair that if we celebrate being 'invincible' against teams we can buy and sell one hundred times over, then we are critical when richer clubs embarrass us.

When we play motherwell on Sunday we play have players on our bench that are worth more than the whole motherwell squad. Someone like Dembele will be sold for more than every fee Motherwell has paid for a player in its history. Such is football. But we cannot celebrate the achievement of beating wee teams every week but shrug off getting beat 7 1 by richer teams.

Leo Messi scored 60 goals in 2012 and they won La Liga. They had Xavi, Mascherano, Iniesta, Pique, Alexis, Alves, Busquets, Alba all at their peak.

We’ll see how PSG end up doing. They are a quality side no doubt about it but they are trying to emulate Barca, not the other way about.

He doesn't seem to be learning anything. From his post match interview he seems to be quite happy (???) with the game. If we saw the manager of Motherwell happy about losing the final by that score we would laugh of them forever

Securing European football after Christmas shows progress and learning.

The performance at home v Bayern showed bravery and learning.

Winning 3-0 away in the CL shows learning.

We should be able to go out there and not get roasted , I don't accept the " gap " bullshit as there's always been a large one yet we've been competitive in the past.
