This is the way it's gonna be under Brendan, he'll never park the bus, it's not in his nature. It's what you get with him, we'll get the domestic domination and qualify for the CL group stages but against teams like Bayern and PSG we'll get slaughtered because we don't have the quality to play the football Brendan wants us to while being competitive in the games.

Let's hope we get into the Europa and we can go along way to forget these hammerings.

We don't even need to 'park the bus' though.

Just need to show less naivety and hold our hands up to the fact that Craig Gordon playing it out from the back with Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe breathing down our defenders necks at every opportunity isn't going to work.:56:

I would like to think any decent manager could do the same with the resource advantage we have in Scotland. Never in our history have we ever had so much financial resource over the rest of Scotland.

    This.

A couple of solid midfielders who can do the dirty work and sit back. That would make a world of difference straight away.

Would be a good point if we weren't the first and only team to do it.

Nearly as embarrassing as you pretending to be a Tim.

Eboue should be given more opportunity to show what he is about at this stage. He's been here long enough.

I think launching goal kicks against these teams is definitely a good starting point :50:

He needs to * his morals when we conceed two pish goals and go 2-1 down am not expecting to sit back at 1 -0 90 secs into a game but refusal to do so has seen us go 3 and 4 goals down at half time 3 times this season and its getting on my nerves! Doing so may not make it stay 2-1 but it will give us a * of a lot more a chance imo losing 3 and 4 makes the game out of sight

Ive seen im my days playing negative and getting results and id much rather it

Wouldn't Brown and Ntcham be classed a "solid" midfielders, for our level anyways? How can they expect to form a solid partnership capable of protecting the back four when they're being asked to play and attack a vastly superior side to them? It gets tiring very quickly at this level especially against the quality that PSG have. Is Eboue really going to make that much of a difference either? He doesn't really have the experience at this level. I honestly think some of our players are being asked to do a thankless task in these type of games.

Despite a spanking by the best team in the world, I see improvement....

The way we look after the ball, confidence to pass in tight spots and to take the game to the opposition and create good situations in final 3rd.
All imo better than last season and early this in Europe, albeit progress is slow.

The defence - that's another story - big changes needed.
Jozo hides when going gets tough,
Boyata I think is our best defender and KT had his worst game in the hoops tonight.

These games highlight where Brendan needs to improve - that's the main positive tonight.

Ntcham doesn't strike me as a defensively solid player. I mean a Wanyama is what we need.

A brick wall who is happy enough to sit back and make protecting the defence his main job.

Brendan doesn't like pure defensive midfielders though, at Liverpool he had Steven Gerrard as his holding midfielder which pretty much sums up what he wants from deep in midfield. Here Brown will pretty much always be our sole holding midfielder.

I've not got a problem with the way he wants us to play football it's worked well and got us great results against Beer Sheva, Astana, Anderlecht, City, Gladbach and saw us compete with a great Bayern team in the last game although we didn't get the result its just the personnel we've got at the moment, he'll know more than anyone he needs improvements we just have to make sure we get them in.

Against teams on our level like Hapoel, Astana and Anderlecht, our playing style will do well. The Europa League will be a good barometer as to how far into the development of this team is.

But against the likes of Barca and PSG, we need to have a bit of pragmatism thrown in. Passing and possession football in the penalty box when you've got world class strikers breathing down your neck makes things a whole lot harder than they need to be.

Lenny and Strachan may have been tough to watch at times but at least they got results. I'd rather be celebrating a famous victory than just going "Well we did score the first goal against PSG in Europe this season!".

Love BR and his style of play, and it's the kind of football I want us to play against teams on our level. But against the super teams we need to shut up shop just a little bit so we're not having to worry about being on the end of a cricket score by half time.

It only seems logical to have several players in the team who are specialists at destruction of play. To create our own play, we must first interrupt the opposition's.
