I personally don’t think he does send the players out the same as SPFL games, but there is definitely a change needed from domestic to European games. Rodgers was used to working with better players let’s not kid ourselves, so has he maybe underestimated the step up since at us.

    Just cant get enough
Tactics non existent. Needs to wise up and realise we can't play the same way we do in the league or every team with better players will embarrass us.

Sometimes you have to adapt depending on the quality of the opposition.

True, but Liverpool got pumped out of the group stages when he was manager. Finished 3rd. Only 1 point more than Ludogorets.

I don't think pragmatic is a word he knows.

I think that BR is trying to build something so he wants his players to be brave in these games and learn from them and be better players as a result.
It will serve us well in the longer run (Europa League Final!)but there will be nights like this.

Tbf to him our best players seem to forget how to do the simple things against top opposition and just invite pressure especially in the early stages it's as if we just cant adapt to the speed of the game and we get punished for it. That being said if he gets us playing the type of football he wants in europe consistently while we may suffer heavy defeats against the absolute best we'll do well against others round about our level such as the Anderlecht game, City last year and Gladbach away.

I think Dembele should have started tonight and at the very least I think the changes should have been made at half time to give us even a remote chance.

You can only * with the * you've got as they say and from the man himself...

"I would rather lose a game in how we want to play & work as opposed to sitting in & defending for 90 minutes and still losing."

At the end of the day, we were up against Bayern Munich. They could do what they done to us, to many others.

Honestly think this Celtic team would have gotten out of that group under Rodgers. His team had completely regressed at that point.

Have to take into consideration how young he is as well, he is only what 43 and is in his third CL campaign already? Third place finish this season and a wee run in the Europa and he has had a great season in Europe, he will get there on the big stage.

Finishing 3rd is progression, but my point is that I just don't think Rodgers is one for abandoning his philosophy, regardless of the level of opposition. Which, although admirable, isn't exactly the smartest.

He’s still learning in Europe undoubtedly.

He’s also 100% correct in his pursuit for development in a particular playing style. What good long term does playing teams off the park every week just to turn into a 10 ken behind the ball lump it up the park side in Europe?

We’ll get there, we just have to be patient.

C’mon that’s not how football works, plenty of teams with no where near the ability have overcome better sides. Now Brendan as much as I love him being our boss needs to get over his own ideas. Yes we all want to see open expansive football but not at the expense of us getting our * felt in Europe. He needs to find a healthy balance like O’Neill done but with a weaker squad.

I get this mindset i really do, but see after we beat the likes of Man Utd , Barca ...etc, it felt wonderful.

Sometimes the result is more important than the performance, and there should be the option to adapt the tactics when needed imo.

Part of me agrees but by sticking to his principles and trying to play football the proper way we are probably going to learn more and improve moreso in the long term.

We are also definitely more suited to playing against decent sides in Europe than we were in the past, we wouldn't have been able to beat the likes of Anderlecht 3-0 away or Astana 5-0 at home under our previous managers.

There's pros and cons to it really, but it's why I would very excited about a crack at the Europa. We have the ability to hurt any of the teams at that level. We've even shown glimpses of our threat in the games against PSG and Bayern and they are literally the elite in modern football.
