BRENDAN RODGERS will make a new move for the South African starlet
Rivaldo Coetzee once he sees the full medical report on the defender, according to the man who signed him.

Celtic pulled the plug on an £800,000 move for the 20-year-old after he failed a fitness in Glasgow at the end of the last transfer window.

Instead, Pretoria side Mamelodi Sundowns splashed out £500,000 for the Ajax Cape Town kid.

Coetzee was originally expected to be ruled out for between nine months and a year because of a problem with his right foot.

But Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane insists the player will be back within three months.

And he reckons Celtic could resurrect their interest in him.

He said: “Medically his condition will be sorted. He does not have to go through an operation which would rule him out for nine months like everybody said.

“He will soon be back, I think three months maybe. The specialist gave us a report and we are happy with the report.

“I think when Brendan Rodgers sees the medical report again, he will be willing to have another look at the player again.

“Football is a game of moments. He is available, you’ve got to take the chance. Do you want to lose this chance to sign a 20-year-old?

“Brendan Rodgers speaks so well about the boy because he has been watching his games. He has international experience. Just wait, Rivaldo is a good investment.”

Coetzee has been capped 22 times by his country after becoming South Africa’s youngest ever international at 17.

Seems like the people in charge of his new club have swooped in to buy him with the main view of nursing him back to health and hopefully selling him to Celtic eventually? Obviously knowing Rodgers and Celtic were so keen.

Know * all about Safrican fitba, but the fact some mob spent half a mil on him, despite his public injury worries (and current long term injury), probably means this boy has a bit of talent.

Potentially, but you would have to be confident he would attract that attention again, and that goes hand in hand with the boy having something about him

CELTIC manager, Brendan Rodgers has won the Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month for September.

The Irishman led the Hoops to SPFL wins over Hamilton Accies, Ross County and Rangers before ending the month with a thrilling 2-2 draw with Hibernian.

The last two weeks of September also saw forward progress for Brendan Rodgers’ team away from the SPFL in cup competitions.

A 4-0 win over Dundee put the Celts through to the League Cup semi-final and a magnificent 3-0 win over Anderlecht in Belgium delivered the team’s first UEFA Champions League group stage away win in five years.

The award is all about the SPFL, though, and Celtic go into the first game of October against Dundee this Saturday at the top of the table.

BR: "I accept the award on behalf of the players, staff and everyone involved at the club."

BR: "It was a very busy month. I thought the players were outstanding in their focus and everything they put into all the games."

BR: "There’s a huge amount of credit that goes to players for their ability to adapt & perform in whatever competition they're in."

BR: "What they’re very clear on is we know success doesn’t just happen, you have to work on it."

BR: "Neil is clearly trying to get @dundeefconline to play, show courage on the ball and build from behind so they open the game up well."

BR: "This game, like every other game, will be very difficult for us."

BR: "We respect all the opponents we play but always look to bring our level of performance and hopefully we get the three points."

BR on @SimunovicJozo: "He’ll unlikely be involved on Sat. It was never an injury that was going to keep him out for a sustained time

BR on @ScottBrown8 and @StuArmstrong16: They have come through very well, may be too soon for Sat but for Munich they’ll be fine."

BR on @anthonyralston8: "Still hasn’t trained yet. He's spent a couple weeks with the medical team so hopefully he’ll be back very soon."

BR on @Tom_Rogic "The travel is very difficult. Normally when he gets back he’s needing to recover for 48 hours.

BR: "@Tom_Rogic, @ScottBrown8 and @StuArmstrong16 will train and be ready for @FCBayern."

The fact no-one outside of South Africa was interested concerns me more.

    Don't want him tbh.

BRENDAN Rodgers heaped praise on his players for the way they handled a busy start to the season and has promised Celtic will be at their best when they face Dundee in the Premiership on Saturday.

Many of the Hoops players have just returned from international duty and are now gearing up for a packed scheduled of six games before the end of the month. Brendan Rodgers insisted that his squad will be well prepared to deliver a high level of performance in each of the games, though, starting with Dundee this weekend.

“The game against Dundee, like every other game, will be very difficult for us,” said the manager. “We respect all the opponents we play but always look to bring our level of performance and make it a high level that hopefully gets us three points.

“Last month was a very busy month. I thought the players were outstanding in their focus and everything they put into all the games. There are a lot of games which will be of a high level, but if you’re doing well that’s what it brings.

“We have a medical team here and we all work together very closely with the players to get the best possible results we can.

"There’s a huge amount of credit that goes to players for their ability to adapt and perform in whatever competition they’re playing in and look to bring the very best in every game.”

The manager, who picked up the Ladrokes Premiership Manager of the Month award for September, also praised the attitude of the players who have stepped when changes have been made to the starting XI.

“It makes me very satisfied to see the professionalism of the players. When they are out of the team for a few games and are asked to come in and perform, they do that.

"It’s hugely satisfying for myself and the staff to see the level with which they train, how they lead their life and how focused they are.

"They’re very focused on their work, when they’re asked to play they do a fantastic job. That’s what you need if you want to be successful as a player and as a team. The players are very hungry and focused on winning.”
