I remember him saying after the Gilbralter game about the fans needing to be more patient when we play the ball around the back - that some times we need to pass and probe to make space. All very well Brendan, but you need to go and ask some serious questions of Gordon, Brown, Toure, Lustig and to a lesser extent Sviatchenko. That last 15 minutes was torture to watch and the amount of pointless passing was unreal. That wasn't probing, that was 5 players who had given up the game and lacked any motivation to get forward.
Great to have brought on Roberts and Griffiths, but pointless when the back line refused to put the ball forward - and it wasn't down to BMG.

It was pointless passing the whole game, not just the last 15 minutes. We were going back all the time. Hardly moved forward. Roberts and Griff were the only players to actually run at them when we had the ball. Forrest and Rogic to lesser extents.

Agree. Brown on a number of times rand across the park and lost posession, * knows what was going on at times. The urgency from the city game just wasnt there.

BR: "I thought the best team won. No argument about that."

BR: "Players gave everything against a top side. Disappointment in gifting them two goals."

BR: "You see at that level how they can play through pressing. We had some good spells but beaten by a good team, no complaints."

BR: "Still elements we need to compete in consistently. Process of building something here but sometimes there are teams better than us."

BR: "That's no disrespect to our players. They had a World Cup winner in midfield and other good players."

BR: "This was always going to be tough for us. It wasn't to be tonight and we'll play every game now and have to do our best."

BR on mistakes: "That is frustrating. Players poured everything into the game and some of them were outstanding, individually."

BR: "Mistakes get punished heavily at this level. Top players will hurt you and that's what happened."

BR: "We have to find a way at this level of consistently looking to perform. You can't click your fingers and achieve it overnight."

BR: "Supporters created an incredible environment for us to play and credit goes to them."

BR on development: "There are certain attributes you need that cost money but that's up to us and our recruitment."

BR: "That will be over the course of time and something we'll look to do."

BR on Toure: "He's been in the game for so long. He's an honest player. Tonight will hurt but he's a warrior and will recover."

I think BMG just played a blinder tbh. They are an excellent side.

Think he has to take at least some of the blame for the start we made.

It wasn't down to their quality we couldn't come out the traps quickly, City have more quality all over the park.

He's done a fantastic job so far and of course it'll take time for us to get where he wants us to be. But he really needs to sort the team out defensively.

12 goals conceded in 3 CL games. 8 goals conceded in 8 league games as well.

Think he was very slow in changing it tonight, as it was obvious first half Rogic and Biton weren't at the races.
Also thought bringing on McGregor was a strange choice of sub.

would have liked to have seen us change shape in some form tonight, from the word go they were set up in a way that stopped us getting at them, and at the same time they came at us with ease, we are going in the right way but, and games like tonight will make that journey quicker.

Rodgers was honest enough not to try and make excuses. We got beat by a better team. He mentioned we'll have to spend a little bit of money though and that can only mean the team will get better, hopefully qualifying for the CL again next season and making a better go of it.

Good thing is Brendan is already ahead of schedule. Should be some entertaining games in the league and cups to look forward to.

The personnel was right, and the formation was the same as City, where we had a lot of joy..

I don't really have any complaints. He played what we all wanted to see. He took off the anonymous Bitton. He left Armstrong on the bench. He brought on Griff and Paddy and stuck 2 up top..

All decisions I was in favour of at the time, and we went for it tactically, but a couple of horror mistakes and q better side, punished us rightfully on the night..

They were unbelievably quick on the counter, and whatever way we set up, truthfully, i still think they'd of done us....maybe even worse..

The main thing I always feel the need to reiterate when it comes to Brendan is that he is not going to be able to perform miracles overnight.

He's still learning too as a manager. Give him time to build a squad of his own here before properly judging him. His acquisitions so far have been nothing short of brilliant and I'm sure he will carry that on in future transfer windows.

This season will be a great learning experience for him, domestically and in Europe. He's been shoved into the toughest group in the CL and he'll come out of this a better manager, to our benefit.

We have come on leaps and bounds since Brendan arrived in May. I can't remember a season having such a feel good factor surrounding it since MON's first one, and that was almost 20 years ago. It really feels like a new era on and off the pitch, with the standing section and being back in the CL group stages, as well as having a proper derby again.

We could be on the cusp of something great again with BR, if we simply give him the time he needs to do his job here.
