Yes, I imagine it will be something like that. I think his time here will be looked back on more favourably in the future. Rodgers also demands that his players constantly strive to improve themselves tactically and technically and that they be 24-hour athletes and Deila left him that already there.

Some of Rodgers comments have been very interesting about this bunch of players. Presumably he has no idea what we fans think Deila's strengths and weaknesses were yet already I've heard him say he's very impressed with their fitness, how hard they work to improve in training and how good they se at taking on board information from the coaching staff. That's down to Deila.
Equally he also mentioned about working on improving their mental strength and tactical flexibility during and between games. Deila's major weaknesses.

I genuinely think that in Rodgers we have someone who combines the best of Lenny and Ronny. He also has the big name that can attract quality players up here.

    Happy days.

well we have to ask why is those that played so badly for ronny now playing so well for BR....and i doubt its because BR has found some magic formula that fixed them all.
Still think they wanted ronny gone and downed tools on him.

Fabricating nothing mate, the facts outlined indicate clear and evident decline from the Lennon era. Your trying to overvalue and over credit Deila for a diet which you have no evidence whatsoever had any kind of positive impact on performance, or if that has been continued under Rodgers? Its nonsensical. Id rather he get the basics right in terms of tactics and team selections, first, than worry about particulars where another professional may be better suited to attend.

Ronny was judged as a manager of the football club, not as a dietician, a sports scientist, or a youth coach. dont lose sight of that. The team was in evident decline, thats undeniable fact.

Rodgers job is to steady the ship and turn an underperforming team into one that produces. And he alone deserves that sole credit for doing what RD couldnt.

I don't think that was continued very long we always looked * after 70 minutes. Deila has to be given credit for a few things though but that's it.

Is it maybe not a bit presumptious and undermining to assume that Rodgers doesnt already understand a thing or two about player diets and want to use his own methods, given the players and managers he has worked under previously? Mourinho, one of the biggest utilisers of sports science in football?

The team was in decline during Lennon's last CL season. Some shocking performances. Aberdeen done us in the cup also in February.

We had some decent performances in the Europa League under Ronnie. In fact we were much better against Ajax under Ronny than we were under Lennon.

Ronnie's last season saw the development of many players and some beginning to flourish I.e. griffiths.

The only players who have declined are the egotistical maniacs from Lennon's time.

lol quick to judge. How do you know the "ships steady" 4 weeks into the season? We did have possibly our worst result ever 3 weeks ago (albeit a freak one)

Theres quite a profound difference in there mate.

In once instance you have a team putting in bad performances in the CL. In the other you have a team putting in bad performances in the Europa league.
Lennons reign saw us develop Van Djik, Wanyama and Forster. He also bought Griffiths (btw a player who was already established in our league). I think thats enough said for that.

I worded badly. His job is to steady the ship (and obviously to achieve progress), and if he achieves that he deserves sole credit for doing so.

Brendan Rodgers has given an insight into the meticulous attention to detail which he insists will leave his Celtic players with only themselves to blame if they fail to meet their targets this season. The former Liverpool boss saw the Scottish champions make a winning start to their Premiership title defence on Sunday when they recovered from the controversial concession of a penalty kick to beat Hearts 2-1 at Tynecastle.

Rodgers has revealed he and his backroom team brief their players not only on their opponents ahead of matches but also provide analysis of the referee in charge. “It’s about us knowing as a staff that we have done absolutely everything for the players to gain that extra
1 per cent,” said Rodgers. “Then they don’t have any excuses. Creating that no excuse environment is very important. “It’s not homework, but the players are all given a document on the opponent. Everything is in there about the individual player they are playing against. We look at the offensive organisation of the opponent and the same defensively. We look at the different phases of transition, offensive and defensive. “We also study the referee. We look at the last 35 games of the ref and look at his form going into games. Does he give particular cards at a high level or not? “So we study the opponent and the referee in depth. But then it is the choice of the player. It’s never forced onto them. “All of them will take away a document that will allow them to be fully 100 per cent prepared for the game. “Some will read it religiously, read every letter that is on there. Some, I’m sure, will set it down after ten seconds and not look at it again.” While reaching the Champions League group stage and winning a sixth consecutive title for the club are Rodgers’ main objectives, he is keen to succeed in every competition. Rodgers is content with the currently demanding schedule of two games every week in different competitions. “It just means you have to use various tools to help them develop,” he added. “They are playing Wednesday, recovering Thursday so the nutrition is important in order to maximise their loading for the next game. “We do lots of video, individually and in team analysis and on top of that we work on the field. There is an awful lot of work being poured into them.”

At no point in the interview does he ever say the players will only have themselves to blame.

I really like the way he's changing the system during the match to suit the events.

His changes got us the goal out in Astana, changed it again in the home leg to good affect (despite conceding a freak goal) and won us the game against Hearts by shifting to a back three, bringing on Sinclair and keeping the two strikers on.

Warburton, on the other hand, when he first came in, was quoted saying “The best plan B is to do plan A better”. For me this rarely works.

You need a Barcelona-esque squad for this to work, generally. Players of real quality. In the SPL, teams at points with 11 men behind the ball, not much genuine quality in the team - It'll be one of his, and their, major downfalls.

Great to have a manager who isn't afraid to mix it up, and seems to know when and how to do it.

    Problems with Ronnies approach-
    1. Work them like * in training so come 70 mins in a game our team was exhausted.
    2. He banned Tunnocks Teacakes :56:

The lack of late goals was a * joke under Ronny. If we weren't winning by 65 minutes I wouldn't expect to us to score. Rodgers has 2 vital late winners already, some difference.
