    Absolutely class manager.

Been a while since I had the feeling of being really buzzing to watch us since Ronnys team delivered the same pish week in week out. A class midfielder and keeper and we'll be quality.

His subs are spot on, game changing.

He's done it more than once now. Not a coincidence ! Sign of a good manager that is.

    @Seosamh

Can't find his exact quotes but he has already this season called Brendan 'naive', his subs 'baffling' and generally stuck the boot in.

Actually it might have been venglos. All these negative * look the same to me.

His decision making at times is incredible.

Sure, he is bound to get something wrong eventually but in terms of reading a game and seeing what we need on the park it is hugely encouraging.

Good to see him say he wants a few more in as well. Midfielder is a must.

Bold subs as well, bringing on an attacking midfielder for a defender and switching from a back four to a back three.

    Tactically on another level.

BRENDAN Rodgers has hailed the mentality of his Celtic players after watching them refuse to settle for a share of the points against Hearts at Tynecastle today (Sunday).
The Hoops were handed a difficult season opener away to Robbie Neilson’s side as the Bhoys started the defence of their SPFL Premiership title, but they stormed into an early lead when James Forrest curled the ball round Jack Hamilton from the edge of the box and into the net inside 10 minutes after a frantic start in the capital.
The Celts looked powerful and direct in the opening 45 minutes and could have added to their lead but the home team drew level before the interval after benefiting from a contentious penalty award.
The chance came after Jamie Walker went down in the box with Kieran Tierney in close proximity, but contact appeared to be minimal between the Hearts man and the Celtic full-back as the Hoops youngster pulled out of the tackle without making a challenge.
The spot-kick was awarded, however, and Walker converted from 12-yards to tie the game before the interval.
Play became fractured and scrappy in the second-half as both teams battled for supremacy but the introduction of new Bhoy Scott Sinclair eventually turned the tide in the champions’ favour, with Celtic’s latest acquisition slotting home a clinical finish on the end of Leigh Griffiths’ cross from the left with less10 minutes remaining in the game.
It was a massive goal for the former Aston Villa playmaker, who only joined the club in the hours building up to the game, and afterwards the manager praised his team for refusing to settle for a share of the points.
“We have had a really good pre-season,” said the manager. “Take away the Gibraltar game where there was a lot of flack flying about but we got the job done.
"And on the back of a tough European game, if you think of the physicality of that game during the week, to then come here and produce that level of mentality and focus in the team at what is renowned as a really tough place to come and play, I thought the players deserve a huge amount of credit.
“I was also delighted at how they accepted the risk in the game. With 20 minutes to go we wanted to win. We want to win games.
"They were not happy with the point. So we took off a defender and moved young Kieran back in. We stuck on extra attackers then had two front players, a No.10, two wide players and a central midfield player joining in.
“We were really attacking the game and how they accepted that was terrific. We got the goal, closed the game up so it was a great demonstration of that mentality of the players and I was delighted with that.”
Sinclair’s deft strike in the closing stages capped off a mammoth weekend for the 27-year-old, who spent the best part of Friday evening and Saturday morning driving to Scotland to ensure his transfer to the Bhoys could be completed in time for today’s game in Edinburgh.
All that effort and patience from both sides to conclude the deal proved worthwhile, however, after Sinclair scored the winner and the manager said there will be more to come from Celtic’s new No.11
“It was an outstanding goal,” he said. “If you track the speed of his run and once he’s breaking away, it’s that hunger and desire you see from the really good players to want to get up and join in.
“He showed his pace to get up there from being so far behind, Leigh Griffiths did great and Scotty has just checked his stride and got a great finish on it. He couldn’t have asked for any more, considering he had only three hours sleep on Friday night to travel up yesterday.
“I have been looking to get him in for a long time because I know the impact he can have. He’s still young and knows exactly how I work. He’s fresh, super fast and that’ll hopefully be one of many goals he can get.”

It took some balls to switch to three at the back by bringing on Rogic for O'Connell, especially since we didn't really have the players on the pitch for that system (Forrest and Sinclair at wing back...), but he got it spot on.

Is it just methat thinks he isn't the best orator. Not in a bad way or that.

He comes across as a genuine and honest guy thats what I mean.

He's not one for mind games or thinking about what he says ala Mourhino.

When he talks it comes out a bit clumsy sometimes but its genuine. :smiley-laughing002:

    Just you.

As far as I am concerned as long as he is genuine then he is the best orator.

I think he is just honest and straightforward.

The fact he called out the support somewhat for example after Wednesday kind of pleased me. Shows he isn't afraid to call it as he sees it.

In terms of the way he talks about football he is like Deila, except with him it actually works and you believe he isn't just all talk and nae troosers.

To be fair, Ronny could really talk as well. But there are signs of that Rogers can back it up.

This is my gut instinct as well and quite far removed from how he has been portrayed in the media over the last few years.
