I think we need a couple of midfielders.

Like you said, a good box to box midfielder as well as a physical midfielder, like Wanyama.

Wouldn't be against that, have lost a lot of faith in Gordon over the last few months.
I think that's going to be Browns role, sitting in front of the back four and breaking up play. It's the two slightly more advanced midfielders I'm more concerned about. I think McGregor will have a big season despite being fairly average the last few games, but I think we need someone for the other midfield role.

I don't really fancy Brown for that role to be honest. He tends to roam from his position a bit more than I'd like, rather than just sit in and shield the back 4.

In terms of the other 2 midfielders, we certainly need more quality. For me, McGregor isn't the quality we should be content to start with. I know he finished last season well and he does have a goal in him. But he just isn't good enough. Only a few years ago we had the likes of Wanyama, Ledley, Kayal and Brown as our options in midfield. McGregor would have been behind all of them in the pecking order.

Yep. Craig is good shotstopper but when 3 at back is played, GK becomes the 4th man and therefore has to be fast/mobile, something Craig isn't. Don't understand we need couple midfielders. BR plays 3-5-2. The middle 5 would be Janko, Roberts, Brown/Bitton/Armstrong, Sinclair, Tierney. We need pace at back so will be interesting to see how Eric (luv the man's passion), Jozo, Dedryk fair compared to Lustig, Kolo & O'Connell

Joe Ledley would be perfect for us right now. We need someone of that ilk I reckon.

New deal for Rogic, new goal keeper and a deadline day big money signing in either central midfield or striker

Yep. He'd be absolutely perfect. Someone who can attack and defend, puts in a shift and pops up with goals.

    New GK, Gordon, Fasan

Janko, Lustig; Kolo, Erik, Jozo, O'Connell, Boyata; Tierney, Izaguirre

Roberts, Forrest, Sinclair; Brown, Bitton, McGregor; Rogic

    Griffiths, Dembele, Ciftci

Then we've got the "outskirts" midfielders such as Ajer, Christie and Henderson. Anyone I haven't mentioned, get rid. We could also do with another striker.

Not a bad squad on paper. I'd keep Commons but I just can't see him getting any game time under Rodgers.

It's very decent. Midfield is really the only area we badly need to address. Maybe a new 'keeper as well but don't think that'll be as big a priority.

I'd like to add Erik Sviatchenko to that list as well, great bit of business done in Jan.

Worrying tht BR has went from talking about 4 signings before Astana to one more in before the weekend. Wonder what has happened to the other two signings (if you count Kolo as a signing and Sinclair being close).

Maybe he meant 4 signings before the window shuts at the end of the month.. If we make CL he may have a couple of quality targets in mind.

Aye he never put a time frame on the 4 signings. He just said he would like 4 more players in general. Sinclair this weekend, hopefully another before the CL games as well. Then we'll have a week or so for another 1 or 2.

Can't imagine two before the play off round. To be honest, can't imagine two before the window shuts :smiley-laughing002:

You have to imagine that if Brendan wants 4 signings then at least two of them will be after the play off round. We can attract a better calibre of player if you have guaranteed CL games.

3 signings in Touré, Dembélé and Sinclair, isn't bad at all at this stage. Bit of a gamble in the timing between some qualifiers, but you'd say that Brendan will have been content enough with that. If he manages to qualify us (what an early achievement that'll be by the way), and we get 1 or 2 more in, I think everyone will be happy with that this window..

We'll probably have a fair few heading out still as well..

    Shaping up nicely I think..

If it really is 4 signings he's targeting before the end of the window, with Sinclair being one of them so another three potentially to bring in.

Then you'd have to suspect a GK will be high on his list of targets. It's pretty well known Brendan likes his GKs to be good with the ball at their feet, something which Gordon is pretty poor at.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a new GK in before the end of the window. In fact I feel personally it's a must.
