Was raging when I heard the crowd moaning at KT for passing it back to Gordon :smiley-laughing002:

    Agreed lads.

However the last 15 minutes and the scenes after the final whistle were amazing.

Just a bit more understanding during the match could make all the difference.

Think if he saw the game from our view he would have been getting frustrated as well. People weren't getting frustrated just because we kept going backwards, it was because we were going backwards when we had perfectly good options to go forward and the players either didn't back their ability to pass more than five yards or were way too slow to either spot the pass or move the ball so the option went and we were then forced to go backwards.

It's a British/Irish thing, we want to constantly go forward. Continental fans especially Spanish and Italian appreciate that perhaps you have to have patience at times and keep possession for periods until openings appear and you can gradually open up the opposition. I think some players can be affected by the reaction of the crowd, Brendan wants them to just keep the ball if a pass isn't on and go backwards if needs be, but if they hear the crowd they might panic a bit and just try to burst forward. Look at his Swansea side, incredibly patient, they'd keep the ball at the back for a couple of minutes if needs be as long as they eventually found a way to move forward and gradually open up the opposition.

Or play Efe and we go forward with ease, with the grace of a gazelle.

    And good post.

I noticed when people had a go at Tierney going backwards as well. I actually had a bit of a moan myself and I am usually totally against passing the ball forward unnecessarily or trying to force it, but with that particular incident Tierney could have played a simple ball across to Janko who was in acres and we would have been on an attack.

It is stupid to get on players backs for things like that though, and would agree with Oisin in that it definitely seems to be a bit of an Irish and British thing.

Sometimes it is purely a heat of the moment thing.

As soon as their goal went in everyone in the stadium, whether they like to admit it or not, was thinking "Here we go again".

Frustration and anxiety on nights like this go hand in hand with Celtic. It is why SO many players cannot hack it here.

The fact Dembele for example stepped up and took that pen bodes well for his career here. Could you have seen Pukki or Balde doing that? No chance. Pukki would have had * dribbling down his legs.

So true. Its a two way trust thing too.
Were so used to passing it back to the keeper and then the ball being booted up the pitch, the very sight of a backwards pass frustrates us.
As we spend more time in Rodgers system, and learn that just because the ball is going backwards it doesn't mean were about to surrender possession, you'll see much more patient fans.

    "We're on the road again" :smiley-laughing002: :party048:

I completely agree though mate. The swell of the crowd will always dictate opinion I think. Nothing much you can do about that.

I like that Brendan feels comfortable enough to bring it up though, he will know that as long as you are successful you will have the ear of the Celtic support. If anyone can change the mind of people it's a successful, open, interactive Celtic manager.

    Really excited for the future.

Yeah definitely, I agree the fans will become more patient in time. :50:

Don't get me wrong though, my natural urge is to just want to see us go forward all the time too. :smiley-laughing002:

I knew some * would finish off that line:56:

But aye. I am feeling more optimistic about the times to come. I said when he signed that I wasn't expecting CL football in his first attempt, would be fantastic now though if we can do it.

He really needs to be backed by the board though. Against sides like this having 3 or 4 quality players really makes that difference.

He said he wants 4 in. Lets give him those 4.

I would expect at least two before the next deadline.

    Surely...

I do not understand it either. Even at kick off the scoreline (with the away goal) was in our favor so it's perfectly fine to just keep possession even if that meant going backwards. Yes some expect us to go out and score 2, 3 early goals. But I think its justified to play a bit safe since we did not have to chase the game.

Really looking forward to seeing who he does bring in. I think we might see some real quality when he spends a few million. I mean Dembele and Toure are looking like great pieces of business and they were free.

I also think we might see more of the youth team getting a chance like O'Connell who is doing well.

When he says he wants 4 more players I wonder what positions he's thinking of.
