Wonder what 4 positions he's looking to fill. Centre backs a given, he'll probably be wanting to bolster the CM position as well. Doubt he wants another striker but it seems he wants to play with a winger so that will probably be one as well.

We desperately need a Wanyama type in midfield

I won't hold out. Wanyama will be our Vieira when he left Arsenal, 10 years down the line and we still won't have found someone to fill his boots. That said, there does seem to be a lot of talented CDMs floating around in lesser leagues playing for smaller teams who won't be on big money. I have faith in Bitton but when the vast majority of Celtic fans turn on you there's * all hope for you so I won't hold out.

If there is a silver lining to the other night (assuming we go through) it's that Brendan will have learned a lot more about the squad than if we had stuck 4 or 5 past them.

Now we will see how good a manager he really is. Bin the underachievers Brendan!

What I said before the game and since, I really think in the end it could be for the best this upcoming season, provided like you say, we actually get through. I said the same thing about the game against the Huns, they had their day that day but it will be the last for a long time provided we learn from our mistakes and we seemed to on that ocassion by bringing in Rodgers, now we need to get the right players in and get rid of a few also.

Maybe I've picked that up wrong but it sounds like you think it's unwarranted? I don't think he could have looked more disinterested on Tuesday - and it's not the first occasion of that eg. Sevco semi final. He certainly has ability but his application & attitude is regularly abysmal, which I would argue is the reason he's come in for a lot of criticism.

Brendan is just in the door, and needs time to gather information on the players at his disposal - the players who he thinks can play football the way he wants it, and the one's who will not fit his style.

Brendan will know what kind of player is needed, and will be working hard with the management team to make this a reality, but this will not happen overnight.
Fast forward 6 months and the end of the January transfer window, and I would be surprised if more than 4 of the current team that played against Lincoln will remain as part of a starting 11.

I firmly believe that come next July, we will be looking forward to the qualifiers and a good chance of making a real impact in the Champions League, not just aiming for getting through the groups, but going further.

At the end of the day, it's one game right at the start of the season

I would have rather had Moyes (Everton sympathies due to my Dad being a Blue) but I think Rodgers has what it takes to do a good job at Celtic

As others have stated, hopefully he's learned who he needs to keep and who he needs to cull, and he will do so accordingly

Ajer played at centre half in friendlies. Why not go with him instead of Ambrose? Or Lustig? I don't buy into the fact Lustig wasn't fit or couldn't play on the pitch either, otherwise what's the point in taking up a place on the bench. What would have happened if Janko was injured in the opening minute of the game. Would Lustig have been brought on to replace him or not.

Perhaps it was something to do with him being desperate to come off in the semi against Sevco, when it seemed there was nothing wrong with him a few minutes later. I was a big fan of Bitton, but his actions that day were shameful.

I think in that case he would have risked him. I think Rodgers thought Ambrose was capable of playing against a part time 34 year old footballer. We know he's not.

Hopefully he's taken that lesson on board.

He must surely have seen clips of games, or more to the point, been advised by John Kennedy that Ambrose is a liability.

With our luck and defenders being injured we need another one as a defence against efe getting in the team....another striker as well....and maybe two more for midfield if we are selling anyone from there.

Loosing that first leg could well be a Massive blessing in disguise,as for the 2nd leg we will put a hatful of goals in the back of the net,np probs there.

By the end of August I'd like to see a new GK, CB, RB, CM, LW and ST. Once Paddy leaves after this season a new RW will also have to be looked at but that's for another season. Added to this a tonne of players shifted out either on loan or hopefully permanently.
