Think this is it, to be honest.

I thought these players might transform, much like when Mourinho left Chelsea or funnily enough Rodgers left Liverpool. The players suddenly had a new lease of life.

I have had my eyes opened tonight. Especially in regards to a certin Mr Nir Biton. Gutless, embarrassing attitude.

What is the saying again? "Celtic jerseys don't shrink to fit inferior players"...

I thought he had £15m to spend?

What absolute * of 3 players can compete with that, we're lucky if we could get decent money for 1 or 2 of them. They're saying Bitton might get £5-6m, but ffs, he crashed more than the Euro in recent year or so.

There's not another player who we'd be looking at getting rid would free up space for incoming players, unless they're £250k players, and we really are up * street money-wise.

Don't even think we need to exactly break the bank to sort the team out. About 10 million spent wisely would probably do it.

Sadly I don't think we'll even spend that much.

Make no bones about it Brendan knows the squad needs strengthened. Tonight's result in a crazy way has made his case a lot stronger to get the players in. This is NOT the start he wanted but time will tell if tonight was the turning point in others within the club wakening up. The current squad is the previous managers

First game and did not expect to have so many doubts to be honest. Will give him time but jesus... Play Griffiths up front ffs and don't play Ambrose. 2 fundamentals of this current squad but nope.

    Agree.

Hopefully it is one of those results that puts humility on all at Celtic, and if there is a time to really f up, it was yesterday.

Might just be the result that embarrasses any who do not give 100% all the time

BR will play that back and it will really embarrass most of the supposed Celtic players.
I hope Forest feels ashamed as he has to watch himself * down the wing like Dale Winton, putting his fringe back in place a dozen times in first few minutes he was on.

    the list is long

    Rogic looks unfit or injured
Bitton looks indifferent and on his holidays
Brown looked unfit old and clueless apart from barge in blind.
Ambrose pass the parcel like a football has leprosy
    Christie looks 10

    Forget strikers or even defenders
Biggest concern - is little to no midfield drive or quality, and it starts and stops there.
Every decent team controls the pitch from the middle.

Possibly Ambrose would not f up as much if he was sure what was in front of him were not bombscares.
    Would you be?
with Brown or Bitton - both were as f clueless and useless against Sevco

Rodgers knows it was embarrassing alright.

BRENDAN Rodgers conceded tonight’s 1-0 loss to Lincoln Red Imps in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round first-leg was a disappointing result but he’s adamant that Celtic will still prevail in the tie.
Lee Casciaro’s early second-half goal was enough to give the home side an unexpected victory, with the Hoops hitting the bar twice through Leigh Griffiths on a frustrating night in Gibraltar.
But the manager, who was taking charge of his first competitive game for the Bhoys, is refusing to panic with the second-leg still to come at Paradise next Wednesday.
He said: “It was a game we dominated and had enough chances to score but sometimes you get games like that with a long ball up the pitch and awkward bounce and then suddenly the players is in.
“We have given ourselves a bit of work to do in the second-leg but we have seen enough of the players in that game to show that we can get through in the second game which was always going to be important for us.
“It was difficult, of course. They set up 5-4-1 and, it doesn’t matter the team or the level, when you have 11 players behind the ball it’s very difficult to break teams down and when you throw the pitch into it as well, it was very tough for the players.
“We created enough chances and their keeper made some fantastic saves. Obviously we were disappointed to lose but we will let the local team have their night and we will expect to press on next week. We will have another week’s fitness for it and we will be better for it.
“We understand what we want to get to and what we want to achieve. This was a tough game in tough conditions and we never took our chances and they took their chances but the second-leg will be different.
“There is no panic. We know the type of quality of player to get in and help the team and squad and that’s something we will work on. In the meantime we have enough quality players to get through into the next round. We have to stay together as a team.
“It’s a two-legged affair and our objective here is to get through and I have seen enough in the game for us to get through in the second game.
“The message to them (the fans) is to stay calm. This is a good group of players, they are good guys who are working hard and in a week’s time we will need the support next week to hopefully get the job done next week.”
Celtic struggled to find their fluency on a bumpy and sticky artificial surface and in baking heat but the manager wasn’t using these elements as an excuse for the performance.
He said: “They were also going to be contributing factors in it, you are playing in the mid-30s after 20 days preparation and you have an astroturf pitch, but we are making no excuses We accept the result , though we are disappointed with it of course.
“It’s a disappointing result but there are many factors for it, we didn’t finish like we wanted to do and they took their only chance. We have to accept it as a group, continue to work and put it right in the next game.
“A result like this will always provoke a reation but for us it’s about getting back into work again. We have a friendly at the weekend and by time next Wednesday comes around, we will be another seven days down the line.
“We wanted an easier job after the first leg but this makes it a bit more complicated but we will be fine for the second game.”

Get the feeling you're right there. Some of the decisions today left me wondering just how much of last season he's seen. Today was basically a copy of a performance towards the end of Deila's time.

    Cheers for the interview Crow.

I still don't understand how when he seen they were set up as 4 5 1 and would be hard to break down he didn't choose the players most likely to create a defence splitting pass or cross. I'm thinking Allan and Roberts but especially Roberts. Griffiths should have been more central with Dembele. We could even have played McGregor instead of Bitton or Brown because when a team is parking the bus we don't need our DMs so much.

I do share his optimism we'll turn the game around next week on our home turf not just because of the grass but I'm sure he'll pick quite a more positive attacking team too.

It sounds like he's got a couple of signing he's trying to get finalised but they won't be done by the deadline for the return leg. As he said though we don't need better quality players for that game.

Can we stand at this game or do the seats have to be down for all Eufa games?

Hopefully next week's is basically a copy of the Motherwell game.

Its worrying that the average fan on here could have set the team up better than our new pedigreed manager but I'm still very confident of us going through next week.

Alarm bells on both those highlighted points.

We have a good enough side to get through this tie but that does not mean we should not be trying our hardest to get quality in as quick as possible. Simply holding out or taking our time until we come up against better opposition is a disastrous way to go about qualifying, surely we have learned that in the past 2 years or so?

Second point there, I'm hoping he sees that we need a bit more of a clearout than first thought. Hopefully this 'good squad' line he keeps pedalling is just for the press.

We need quality right through the spine of the side. There are players with potential there, for sure, but, they need guidance and help.

I was surprised at how small Brendan is. I saw a picture of him last week with Stefan Johansen, and Johansen was towering over him.

I don't remember him looking so small at Liverpool.

What a way to start your CV at Celtic ae?

Don't think he'll ever quite shake off that result or not have people talk about it in say 5 years time, especially with it being his first competitive match at Celtic.

A bit like Strachan and Artmedia still getting talked of.

Aye but it is still the same players that are failing again, this result will hopefully show Rodgers that certain players cannot be relied upon, and even i suspect Deila knew that and got the * out

Willing to let this result go as tonight was clear he was playing a team tht Ronnie would have played in the style the team have been playing maybe he thought a familiar style and team would get the job done better but he's lost points for playing efe and i think that tonight was used to see what he needed he did say in tht interview we know the quality of player we need to get in which is encouraging

I was so hoping this was going to be a new start this year. I even promised Daibhi I wouldn't have a pop at the new manager.

But * me, I'm not going to tolerate this.
