B.Rodgers when asked if more players will leave Celtic: "For sure. You can't work with quality and have a squad that size."

As is Boyata, Brown, GMS, Mulgrew and Ciftci then as they don't have a lot of quality either.

BRENDAN Rodgers has inherited a squad of SPFL Premiership title winners but the Celtic manager said he has been impressed by his players’ desire to improve even further.
The Hoops clinched their fifth successive league title last season, underlining their credentials as the undisputed leaders in Scottish football, but with only two days gone in pre-season training at Lennoxtown, the new Celtic boss said the attitude of his players to continue to develop has been “brilliant.”
“Things have gone very well,” the manager said at a special media conference in Falkirk at the Kelpies. “The players have been brilliant.
“We met with the staff on Sunday, shared some ideas of how we want to work and the objectives over the course of the pre-season and going forward.
“We had a meeting with the players and then they have been on the field and I’ve got to say they have been brilliant. Their attitude has been first-class. They have shown real desire to want to improve and get fit and I’ve been really pleased with the first couple of days.”
It is early days yet in pre-season but the Celtic manager said work has already begun to assess the squad’s fitness, quality and areas where improvement is needed.
And while he added that he does anticipate adding new faces to the group, he explained that his priority is getting to grips with the current group of players before making moves in the transfer market.
“I think at this moment in time it’s about developing the players’ fitness,” said the manager. “Of course there’s a lot of work that needs to go into the squad but at this moment in time, the players that are back in are working on their fitness and that’s key for this period of the season.
“Then we’ll be looking, over the course of the coming weeks, to evaluate it that bit more and looking to impose our ideas more into the group.
“We’re working on trying to bring one or two in but the idea is quality. That’s what we’re looking for.
"You have to respect that the current players are the Premiership champions and if we can add to that and help them with one or two players then that would bode well for us.”

No Celtic signings imminent - Brendan Rodgers

New Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers tells BBC Scotland's David Currie that the club are working behind the scenes to sign one or two more players, but they are not expecting any to join soon.

Rodgers, who was speaking at a media event at The Kelpies near Falkirk, also says it would be "disrespectful" to call it a a 'two-horse race' between Rangers and Celtic for the Premiership title.

I reckon we'll work on getting rid of the remaining deadwood and then bring in a few good players.

Another striker and a couple of defenders would be nice.

Brendan clearly thinks we can negotiate the first round of qualifying with what we have right now.

The squad we have right now is very capable of negotiating the qualifying rounds to enter CL group stages - albeit if we have a fit and in-form Griffiths.

That said, it DOES require tweaking and a certain amount of fat trimmed.

3 players gone already. Hopefully another half a dozen go and we can bring in 3 or 4 quality players.

We need a striker in before the qualifiers begin, IMO.

Just to give us the ability to change it up, even against the smaller sides we are due to face in the first 2 games.

I'd expect 2 to be added for the qualifiers then if we do manage to get into the CL proper the final week or so of the window I could see us being linked with some interesting names. The quality of what we do bring in will depend on our European future, as always.

Another left back IF izzy leaves.

    Another left-winger.

    Another striker.

and a few out the door.

I'd add brick shithouse holding midfielder to that list as well.

As would I. In order of priority:

    Striker
    Left Winger
    Defensive Midfielder
    Centre Half

It does not look to promising just now imo, A really hope the board give the guy some money to spend because if they don,t a dont think this team is good enough for the cl

1st thing he needs is a central defender and bin ambrose, a still think were short of a play maker, the team also has no pace what so ever so am hoping he brings in someone with a bit of speed for the left wing

And another striker or 2 to help leigh up front, The team is not as bad as some make out, rodgers will get more out this squad than deila did thats for sure.

Not a priority imo, we have about 6 guys who could be used in this role, agree 100% with the other positions

    Such as who?

The only player we have who can really play there is Bitton and even he isn't good enough defensively. We need a Wanyama.

Agree that a striker is the priority, followed by a proper left winger. Right back and centre back are positions we should look to improve too.

Bitton is a fantastic defensive mid imo, mulgrew is decent in there as well, brown is a defensive mid, the new guy ajer from norway, johansen the role for norway.....

Mcgregor was used as a defensive mid about 15 times last year

Anyway who says we will need a defensive mid??? We wont be using that powder puff 4-2-3-1 formation, a just cant see it a can see us going 3-5-2 next year and i really hope we do, because we have the players to play it, although we are short of a striker !!

Rodgers changed his formation 4 times in a season at liverpool depending on who they were facing and although 1 of his formations was the 4-2-3-1 a just dont see him using that in scotland:50:

A also cant see us finding another player like wanyama any time soon !
