The Celtic manager is called Brendan. You can just hear the huns heids exploding with the confusion that it wont be an insult any more.

We've even adopted The Brendanbeu

BRENDAN RODGERS has completed another key part of his Celtic backroom jigsaw by retaining John Kennedy as first team coach.

New Hoops gaffer Rodgers publicly spoke of his respect for Kennedy after his unveiling on May 23.

And SunSport can reveal the Northern Irishman’s now met with the former Celtic defender, who also worked for Neil Lennon before Ronny Deila, and reached agreement for him to play a big role in his new Parkhead era.

Kennedy, 32, who has the UEFA Pro Licence, is seen by some as a future Celtic boss but had been wondering if he’d have to move on after Deila’s exit.

But now the former defender is excited about the opportunity to gain even greater experience working under Rodgers.

Interesting to see what happens with Kennedy and if he's kept as defensive coach.

Last season was a complete failure from Kennedy as we leaked at least 2 goals per game in Europe.

It's hard to guage how influential Kennedy was under Ronny, one thing for sure is we were diabolical in defence at times and John has to take his share of the blame for that.. It's actual odd how poor we were with both Ronny and JK being ex-defenders..

He will be able to provide continuity between the two regimes which is important.. But as a coach, the jury is defo out and I guess we'll never know how good until he takes up the reigns in his own, hopefully not as first team manager with us.

Not entirely sure on his role under deila but you'd imagine it was working with the defence.

If so I hope he has learned from that experience.

To be fair, we lost Denayer and Van Dijk last season. Kind of hard to find immediate replacements for them.

Rodgers has a fine track record of helping to develop young coaches and members of staff. Hopefully he can do what Ronny couldn't unfortunately do, coach and mentor Kennedy to the best of his abilities.

Right great to have BD but gonnae start signing players and not from England, if the players he's looking at are those in the transfer rumours then I'm not impressed.

Broony definitely deserves a chance to get back on form, in fact I'd say the majority of the squad are in the same boat. I don't think we need to make drastic wholesale changes, release the few players that are never making it here and get a real good tight knit squad and see how we get on with a team full of players buzzing to play for Rodgers.
