    12 souls started out 16 days ago to claim the coveted BOTB's crown of 2021 , one by one they fell leaving one Titan standing proudly , a group of their peers would decide the winner between Depeche Mode and Crowded House ..or as we like to call them Cidermaster and Sean Daleer ( I know he's changed but I cant say that never mind spell it ! . The votes rolled in like clockwork as had been done all tournament and at one stage after 6 votes the count stood at 3v3 but to the votes ..
    Forestbhoy 66 first out the traps ... Crowded House ( 1 )
    Taz with his usual in depth of both sides plumped for ... Crowded House ( 2 )
    Drakhan thought of only one winner ... Depeche Mode ( 1 )
    Fontaine was equally as sure ... Depeche Mode (2)
    Marie swept in to vote her favourite ... Crowded House ( 3 )
    Bagforlife still basking in her semi-final nailbiter voted ... Depeche mode (3 )

    So after 6 votes and only 4 left surely there couldn't be another tie .....

    On we go with the final votes cast ....

    Tim Time was next and only one winner for him ... Crowded House ( 4 )
    Gundog closely followed and set the vote to def con 1 ... Crowded house ( 5 )
    So it was left to Prof to deliver the final vote needed ... Crowded House ( 6 )

    An unassailable lead was achieved , but first we pay tribute to the runner up who fought the whole way and Depeche Mode and Cidermaster was a worthy opponent and finalist ....
    So that leaves only the last one standing who after a disappointing first round grew and grew and brought the voters along with him '

    2 time BOTB winner. Got to admit this is the greatest day of my life.

    Did not see this coming after round 1 when I got pummelled :giggle1:

    I almost cheated during the semi final. I voted on the Stranglers v Depeche Mode match up tactically, while pished at 3am. I felt I had a better chance against Depeche so voted them winner even though I preferred The Stranglers.

    Woke up the next day and reversed my vote to keep the game playing in the spirit intended. Apparently my changed vote made that semi final 5-5.

    I’m glad I seen the light and won fair and square.

    Well done @Mxyzptlk ( crazy name ffs)

    There was a couple of songs that I really liked but you know when you know a tune but you can't remember who sung them? That happened with Crowded House for me, I was one of those who thought Foo Fighters would have been in the final...but I had to vote for you in the quarter final against them.

    I could not believe I put the Foos out. Stunned at that. Was sure that was me after that. Had to bring out the big guns against them.

    I would have voted for the Foos if I was voting on the same 4 songs :giggle1:

    I voted Depeche Mode against my better judgement, I normally low vote any song that has a direct link to songs we sing- Just Can't Get Enough in Depeche Mode's case....but I really didn't like The Stranglers songs at all....had I even liked one of them then I would have gave The Stranglers my vote that round.

    My entry by the way was a last minute pick as I was holding the game up....it someone that I knew no one else would have chosen....Justin Bieber came on the radio....so I went with him....was never going anywhere with him but at least it was a bit different, can get a bit repetitive at times in the comps.

    Anyway.....kudos to @Scotia for hosting, you ran it well mate :57:

    I like to think I don’t have a taste Marie. My genre is good.

    I like hardcore techno to Crowded House to Portishead to to Beastie Boys.

    I take pride in the knowledge that nobody could work out my taste.

    I think I have a pretty wide taste but some things I just don't like/ find hard to listen to, that did happen earlier in th game unfortunately for me.

    The weird thing is if I played my actual favourite Crowded House songs I would have been out. I stuck to the hits.

    That’s what I love about music though. It’s so subjective. I would never judge someone on their taste of music.

    I’ve been known to fire on some Alicia Keys when in the mood.
