A reminder that both Queen and Iron Maiden had a penalty to be added to their scores also. Would it make a difference? We are about to find out... Maybe.

The first from Group B through to the next Round is...

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

One spot left. Who is it going to be? Iron Maiden or The Smiths?

With The Pogues and Queen already safely through to the penultimate round, the question now turned to which of the 3 bands from this Group would be the next to qualify.

    Time to find out.

A reminder that REM has a +3 penalty for this Round.

Topping the Group, and moving into the Sixth Round is...

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I think I incorrectly noted earlier that The Pogues had clocked in with the best overall score of this Round. In fact the Jam have earned that distinction here, with a score of 22.

Congrats to the Pogues, Queen and The Jam.

Who will join them? Who is headed to the Jury?

    Stay tuned...

So, with the Pogues safely through, the question of who would be joining them still was up for grabs.

After 5 votes UB40 and the Rolling Stones were deadlocked. After 10 votes there was just 1 point in it. And after 14 it was still all up for grabs with a soliatary point splitting them.

(Sorry am not making this OOT dramatic, but my pizza is getting cold as I do this, so trying to be reasonably quick-ish, lol)

So who would be going through?

Although Queen hav e already qualified, the truth is, that this Group saw some major fluctuations in the trending scores of the respective performers. But with Iron Maiden carrying a +3 penalty what would happen?

Finishing on 29 points, and moving on to the next Round is...

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Another commendable result for Morrissey, Marr, Joyce & Rourke, who continue to quietly go about their business.

Sadly, however, it means that Iron Maiden (Vinnie) has been eliminated and is now part of the Jury. :54:

With the Jam once again proving to be the pace setter, it was up to U2 and REM to see who would be the one with a ticket to the Final 6, and which would be the next one left without a seat.

REM were carrying a +3 penalty. The question was, how crucial would it prove to be?

In the end it really was a no-contest. :54:

    By a score of

    47 - 30

    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Sadly that means another of the early favourites, U2 (Anton) bites the dust and is the 12th member of the Jury.

    Group C Standings

    JAM
    1 1 1 1 1 - 1 2 - 2 - 2 2 1 1 2 1 1 2 (22)
    REM 2 3 2 2 2 - 2 1 - 1 - 1 1 2 2 1 2 2 1 (27)
    U2
    3 2 3 3 3 - 3 3 - 3 - 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 (47)

REM had a +3 penalty, resulting in a final score of 30.

Speaking of U2, I always remember one of their vids best for featuring the future Tyrion Lannister himself, Peter Drinklage:

Time to put Group A out of it's misery, lol.

With 5 votes to go, the scores stood 25-24, in favour of the Rolling Stones over UB40. How crucial would those final 5 votes be? Time to find out.

    33 - 38

Will reveal the penultimate round draw shortly, after I've finished eating, lol.

A reminder that from this point onwards, if you are still alive in the competition that you will not vote this coming round, that this power has shifted entirely and exclusively to the Jury.
