Was fairly confident he'd be able to stake a claim pre season to be part of the squad going forward, after how well he done last year.

First game he done OK, second game he flopped big time. That's all it's took for me to be fine with him being let go. All the best young man.

Some great attributes and will have a good career but never a Celtic midfielder. Not yet anyway.

    Tailor made for the championship.

Another example of how excellent we seem to be at getting value for players who just aren't anywhere near our squad. Getting £2m-£3m for Lawal is excellent business and should be commended.

That's over £6m we have brought in for players who were out on loan(Lawal-£2m, Haksa-£1.8m) or completely out of the picture(Oh-£2.5m) while managing to negotiate well with Benfica in getting the fee down for Bernardo, albeit it taking far too long.

If we manage to get Idah in for £6m, we have spent just over £10m, while bringing in nearly £6.5m in fees. We absolutely need to be pushing ahead with another centre back and another left back. I can hold off on a midfielder if O'Riley doesn't leave but we need another winger too.

Decent money for someone who’s played a handful of games. We are great at binging in cash. That will cheer us right up when we’re watching Taylor and Scales in the champions league and Mikey is on the bench

It's absolutely insane how well we do in getting these figures for our bog standard fringe players.
For all the stick I'll happily give lawwell and the board, credit always when they manage these absolute crazy fees for these type of players.

However, that in turn just makes everything else seem worse.

As you say, our net spend if we bring idah in, becomes just 3.5m when we could spend ten times that and not blink, or 20x and still be money positive.

Good move for both us and for Lawal. He clearly was nowhere near breaking into the first team and getting meaningful time so it made sense for him to move on and considering how little impact he made at first team level the 2m is solid. Also hopefully its another sign of us moving towards what Rodgers wants squad size wise. I think we have way to big a squad and would be much better off saving wages on the whole host of players no where near getting playing time and having a smaller squad but equally then being willing to pay a bit more in wages to guys who can actually impact the first team.

We have got some cracking fees for fringe players recently but it works the other way too with your Kobiyashi’s and McCarthy’s of the world.

The board also are too unwilling too take a “bad” deal at times when you can cut your losses
