After impressing within the youth ranks at Watford where he won Academy Player of the Year in the summer, Bosun Lawal could have been tempted to stick around at the English Premier League club.

However, as soon as Celtic came calling, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 internationalist said he had no choice but to make the move north.

He’s impressed in Tommy McIntyre’s B team this season in their first year in the Lowland League, and in this week’s Celtic View Podcast he sat down to speak about his first six months in Glasgow

He said: “It’s difficult moving from place to place, but when you have the right people around you, like I do with mates like Tobi Oluwayemi and Ben Wylie, they make it really easy.

“The boys come round to my flat at times and we just chill out or go for some food.

'We were speaking about this the other day that later on in our careers, when we look back at this time, we really want to have enjoyed the changing room.'

“Everyone gets on so well with lots of jokes but when we take it seriously, we take it seriously.”

Lawal is currently out injured but it’s not halted his ambitions of making the move to first-team football.

“Things have gone really well, it’s actually gone better than I thought it would when I first came,” he said. “I just hit the ground running and things have been going well for me personally.

“The hope is to make my debut with the first team, get my chance and really grab the moment and show people I’m capable of playing at a high level.

“I’ve trained with the first team a couple of times and it’s a really good level. The main point is the intensity, everyone is always at it, there’s no slacking.

“Ideally, I would like to achieve my goals this season. I just have to be ready and wait for the call.”

Would like to see him get a chance, maybe against Alloa in the cup in the new year.

At the very least I'd have him on the bench a few games, sure he can play DM.

Suspect we'll see him in the first team picture sooner rather than later.

Had the pleasure of watching him play in the flesh.

Big lad reminded me somewhat of van Dijk.

He'll definitely be somewhere in the first team either end of this season or next.

Good to see Lawal back training, he looked one of the ones who could potentially step up. Unlikely this season now but perhaps next. Had a lot of qualities that we would need in a CB.

Expect him to be around the first team squad next year, start bleeding him in or a decent loan somewhere. Boy is looking like a player
