Boruc?

I agree that Boruc isn't the only problem and the defence is more to blame, but I'm trying to highlight the fact that Boruc doesn't get ENOUGH of the blame, because he's such a fans favourite.

I have nothing against Boruc mate, as I said he used to be one of my favourite players, but surely you can see he's more of a hinderance than an asset to the team now after countless mistakes over the last 2 seasons?!

Well the Boruc of 2006 probably would have saved all 3 of the goals the Huns have scored against this season for starters, Stokes goal today, Falkirk's goal last saturday (Dived the wrong way, *) and several more.

 

You can't blame Boruc for Loovens and Caldwell letting the ball bounce in the area on the goals scored against him at Ibrox and * defending on the goal two weeks ago against the huns either. Again, if you think the Boruc of 06 would have stopped them, you're having a laugh.

Boruc of 2006 had a manager that played a bunkering style of football combined with semi-competent defenders. Boruc of 2010 has neither of those. Again, he wasn't as good as he got credit for then and he's not as bad as he's being blamed for now

 

Boruc was terrible last season, not much better this one

I had a bad stream but I'm pretty sure that the corner was conceded when he made a good save from a Josh Thompson * up.

Its several factors contributing to us conceding, dont take it all out on one person.

 

It wouldn't bother me if we sold him in the summer. He's another "golden boy" who seems to be immune from criticism, hes not been great at all this season, hopefully Man Utd come in with a bit of cash which we can re-invest in the squad (unlikely although). Zaluska is a very adequate replacement.

 

I think the credit he got then was about right, he was linked with Man Utd & Bayern Munich at times, when he truely was a world-class keeper and top 3 in the world, he's now lucky to be top 3 in the SPL.

That's the thing, he doesn't get enough blame IMO.


How else do you explain the fact he has one of the worst shots to goals record in the league? It seems anytime the defence makes a mistake it's punished because the ball hits the net the majority of the time as Boruc can't keep it out.


Do you think Stokes goal tonight was his fault?

 

Similar to McGeady, I think Boruc has gone stale & become complacent.
Wouldn't be too sad to see both of them moved on in the summer.
Not sure Boruc has the motivation to loose the extra weight he's carrying or get back his previous form.

The defence is far from blameless, but for me Boruc has lost his commanding presence and has made several poor decisions of late, plus looks a lot slower both in pace & movement.

 

Although there are obviously other factors contributing to us conceding goals, Boruc doesn't even care enough to get in shape.

When playing for a club as big as Celtic, we should not be accepting the fact that Boruc is overweight and clearly not 100% committed to doing his best for the club.

 

he should share the blame with o'dea. there's no way that the ball should find it's way into that area untouched. boruc should have been in better position or moved toward the ball sooner but it's not all on him. shoddy defending has left him open to more one on one chances and 10yd sitters than anybody in the league this season. nearly every goal scored against him is a head scratcher. granted, he's not playing at the level he could and should be playing but some of the claims you are making are a reach. all of the goals scored by the huns were the result of poor defending and not much else

 

None of the back 5 are great but I agree Boruc gets off the hook more than most, this season alone I'd say he should have done better with, Millers goals, Motherwell goal in the 3-2 game, tonights goal and Falkirk's goal. I'm not saying he should have saved them all but he really did make them cheap goals to give away.

Boruc was carrying weight since his 2nd season tbh. I remember the threads with photos and people wondering if it was a bad angle or not!!

I wouldnt pigeon hole laid back the same as not giving a * or not 100% committed. You dont know which he is without talking to him. He always had a laid back approach imo

 

Sorry mate, but if the ball goes into that area then the keeper should be expected to deal with it. A confident Boruc would have came out and grabbed that.

I honestly don't think my claims are out of reach at all man, I generally believe he is a very poor keeper living on past reputation.


Why do you think he is now 3rd choice for Poland? Because he made several shocking blunders for them, just like for us.


Dropping an easy cross in the Rangers game last season for Miller to score........John Rankin from 40 yards out.......even on Sunday against St.Johnstone he was very lucky not to have conceded a goal, tries to skin the attacker, *? And if it wasn't for a handball at home to Hamilton that would have been another 2 points dropped because of him, and there's lots more.


Good keepers don't make that many mistakes.

Not really, Boruc was never good in the air. People just ignored those mistakes.

e.g. Clyde match several years ago, how many crosses did Boruc mess up?

 

Come on man, it's bread & butter for a keeper to come out and collect that.


He's never been the best at it but he's nowhere as commanding as he was.

Get out the Clyde match, observe his performance during what is regarded as his finest Celtic season. There are plenty more matches of him flapping at crosses, it transcends his form.

 

Boruc is leaking goals like a sieve now, and has been doing it on and off for about three years now. He is a pale shadow of the goalie he once was, and a manager with a set of balls would have dropped him long time ago.

In fact Zaluska should never have been dropped in the first place,
as he the better goalkeeper at this point in time.

Just ask yourself this question if Boruc was any good, then how come no one has bid for him in the last three years, and he has been dropped by Poland.

I agree that class Boruc we all know he can be is NEVER coming back. At this moment in time, I believe that Zaluska is the better goalkeeper than Boruc and is much more dependable.
