i think hes more didier agathe than a left back, thing is we only paid 100k for agathe

i think he was bought as a powerful attacking option on the left seeing as we dont really need a defending left back domestically most of the time

maybe him and taylor on the left you can see hes not a left back when we paid over 3m for taylor

we do seem to like a gamble now and again in the transfer market

He ain't no Didier Agathe, he could defend well enough.

When we were slapping Rangers about with the 352, Rangers to be fair ended up cottoning on to it, then started to hurt us.

MO then played 442 and had Agathe as the RB, Novo ws starting to cause problems. Down the flank and then Didier nulified him with his pace getting in great recoveries, when he got in between our CBs.

Never understand how footballers with such limited ability get to this level.....surely at some point in his career somebody should have realised he is pish.

Stuck up for him for a while as I liked the look of him going forward, but aye, pish. Would try him further forward but he’s never shifting anybody else from that role. Punt.

Didier Agathe was slaying some of the best players in Europe when he was our right wing back, defensively and offensively.

Boli is miles off that sort of comparison.

I don’t know who scouted him or who his agent is but I’m guessing he’s really good at his job! Because this guys an imposter, just minds me of the guy that signed for Viborg FF that wasn’t even a professional athlete ........

He was class for Rapid Vienna there’s no point exaggerating criticism of him. Their President came out a few months after he left and stated he’d left a gaping hole they couldn’t fill.

He’s a player that will work for certain teams IMO and it’s just becoming more and more apparent that there’s a good chance that isn’t Celtic unless he adapts and adapts very quickly.

This is a baffling comment. Did you ever watch Agathe? He had to this day one the best recovery tackles I’ve ever seen in in full back. Not to mention road runner speed. Boli ain’t in the same class defensively or offensively as Agathe was.

    He's a goner..

Taylor limping off yesterday and he still can't make the next day match squad..

Instead we've gone with an academy centre mid to fill in there twice in 2 day's..

    Must be injured?

If not, then a new LB is definitely needed.

What are everyone’s thoughts on what areas of Bolingoli’s game need worked on most? As in, what does he need to do better to make him good enough for us?

    Positional awareness.

Weight of his touch when dribbling at times.

    Stopping unnecessary step overs.

Being more savvy with his tackling, i.e. less rash

To be a decent player for us I would say the following in order:

1.His positioning and reading of the game are miles off at the moment, he is very rarely in the right place.

    2. His decision making is not much better, the Lyon second goal in the friendly was a clear example of that, he was out of position panicked went chasing a header he was never winning, took himself out the game which led to their wing back getting to the byline unmarked. He panics and lacks the ability to concentrate on the job at hand.

    3. His use of the ball, he is very sloppy at times and often passes the ball straight to the opposition, turning over possession often in dangerous situations where our team is on the attack.

    4. A criticism often labelled at Taylor but Boli is just as bad, despite having plenty of pace he never successfully goes past a anyone and just turns back. His only way to beat someone is a one-two with a team mate. Combining 3 & 4 is why I don't understand the call to play Boli further forward as he is not very effective on a 1 v 1 or good at passing the ball.

I can't see him being developed in to a good player for us the things he needs to develop are fundamentals to being a good player and they are sorely lacking in him right now. His positives are mainly physical attributes he is decent in the air for a full back, he is quick and he is fairly strong he doesn't get pushed off the ball easily, other than that I don't think he has many others. Even good games he had for us e.g. Lazio their goal came down his side.

The £3m spent on him was a very poor call.
