I would bet my mortgage the only quality targets Brendan mentioned where either English or German based cost over five million and wanted over 28 grand and b targets were mcginn and mckenna you really think the board after commper musonda Hayes and even hendry would sanction a 2-3 million move for mckenna

We're unlucky here also to be fair. No one could have foreseen the Boyata situation. And Ajer suspension was unfortunate timing.

We'd have went through with Boyata/Ajer pairing I'm quite sure. But it's definitely worrying that our backup are barely SPL quality. And unless we get another CB in our first choice pairing will be Ajer/Hendry for the forseeable.

 

Thing is with our defenders we don't really know if they're decent or not until they play in Europe because in the s.p.l you can get away with it as we hold the ball for the majority of games.

 

The failure to set us up solidly in Europe is BRs... the failure to invest properly in the squad in time for the CL qualifiers is the boards...

However, without knowing who has been targeted to sign defensively it's very difficult to apportion blame..

What we do know is who we have signed have been inadequate, and for me BR takes the ultimate blame for the failure of those signings. As well as giving New contracts to Gordon, Simunovic and rating Boyata far too highly..

The board need to give him the cash in the remaining window and he needs to show he can spot a decent defender..

Still, for me he's earned patience..let's see what happens in the rest of the window..it's a blessing the EPL isn't a get out for some of our players..

 

Even when we've been skooshing the league it's been abysmally poor. Last season we were constantly sliced open and countered by garbage side's at Celtic Park..

This problem has been going on year's now. We get away with it domestically more often than not because team's are *. We get found out against anyone half decent..

I've never known as big a club and decent standing to have such weak, slow, painfully poor headers of the ball, able to hold a line, crunch a man, mentally crumble....it's painful to see..

 

Thing is we are boring as * to watch, so slow and cumbersome on the ball. I wouldn't say we any better to watch now than under strachan(well mabye his last season) or lennon.

 

It really wasn't answered at all. I asked are you of the opinion that Brendan has not identified any defenders to potentially sign. It's quite a simple question to answer

 

About Brendan today:

- He should have considered playing Gamboa over Lustig, because it was a game where we needed to attack and Lustig offers NOTHING in the attack. Lustig has been in an awful form, at least for us, since at least january. Gamboa did decently every time he came in. But he has something personal against him and boycotts the guy, at the same time a scumbag like Boyata had millions of chances.
Same could have been said of Erik. He was mistreated. He is better than Jozo and Hendry, and in my opinion better than Boyata. He was one of the players that appeared the most in the unbeaten run, and rescued the shambles of a team that we were under Ronny from worse stuff. Go halfway through his thread at this forum and we will see people tipping him as the next captain. But Brendan sometimes pick players for personal reasons.

- He took too long to bring Dembele and Sinclair in. Dembele should have came at half time. You saw how good their impact as. WE were needing a goal and with nothing left to lose, but despite the match screaming for these guys, one played 30 minutes and the other 15.

- His action in the transfer market caused the result today. Jack Hendry and Jonny Hayes were the two most obviously stupid signings we made in a long time. Once again we didn't even use the three subs because all bar Dembele and Sinclair were in the bench to make up the numbers. We have a squad that is at the same time bloated and threadbare. We need to ship out deadwood like Christie, Allan, Hayes, De Vries, Ralston, etc as much as we need to sign. A part of the blame for this is the board, a part is his.

- Once again, look at AEK defending. Why can't we ever do that? They also don't have 10 million euro defenders.

With all that factored in, he is still possibly the best coach we can realistically get, he is a fan, and he has huge positive points. It's hard to replace him, while the board wouldnt make a difference if they were replaced by two monkeys and a flower pot. That's why for me most criticism for today needs to go for the board.

B) I am of the opinion Rodgers has identified defensive targets and they haven't been wrapped up by the board

Board are actually to blame for not taking control so to speak people need to look at what we have spent.... Problem is we haven't balanced that spend throughout the team Hayes 1million waste edouard 9 million ntcham 4.4 million sinclair 4.4 million nearly dembele 500 grand nearly 22 million on transfer fees spent on mids and strikers and only 2 million spent on defence recruitment so 24 million spent... 6 million should have been spent between a cb and rb sinclair for 4m4 Wass correct and 2 million on a cm or if you had in the supposed money we would have spent on mcginn then could say got ntcham with that leaving 6 million for French eddy... Say again board and management are equally to blame

Boyata's agent said they were asking all last season for a new contract, which clearly wasn't offered.

Surely a man of Rodgers' intelligence should have realised that if he had a decent World Cup then there would be a good chance he'd get decent offers from elsewhere?

But naw, left with Hendry, Bozo and Ajer.

Rodgers seen there was a problem in defence when he arrive hence the signing of kolo toure,then tried to sign the guy with the dodgy foot ,compper then hendry i can't see him being satisfied with the defenders at his disposal he always puts a positive spin on everything so it's hard to gauge of he s telling the truth
